Never look back

Part 3

I was walking slightly behind Conner hoping that the pack would take some time before noticing me. There was a lot of chatter as we closed in to the village's square. I saw Aaron standing slightly infront of the crowd. He looked rather pissed off.

I wasn't paying attention to Conner untill he suddenly stopped in his track and I bumped into his back. He turned around and gave me a reassuring smile.

“Don't worry Miria, I'm here to protect you. The pack can't hurt there new luna.” He took my hand and slightly squeezed it. He pulled me next to him and we walked to the crowd of people. We stopped next to Aaron so he was on the right of Conner and I was on his left. Conner cleared his throat. The pack went quiet and they all turned their attention toward us.

Ow god they're all looking toward me. I can feel their gazes being focussed on me. Stay calm Miria you can do this, Conner is here to protect you nothing bad will happen with him around. Breath in... breath out... Okay I can do this! I just need to stand my ground and be proud of myself.

The pack moved around a bit so everyone was able to see us and they all sat down on the ground waiting for the announcement their alpha has for them.

“Before I start I will make some things clear to you all. You are not to doubt any of my words or decisions. You either like it or you leave the pack. It's al simple as that. Whoever dares to even think of interupting me will get punished by me personally.” Wow Conner really had a change of heart. Normally he was more of a friend than a true leader. I wonder how the pack is going to react to this new side of his. For now the pack looked taken back. Some had a suprised and confused look and few even held a slight fear to there the new side of their alpha.

“Good. Now we all know about Miria's little outburst yesterday. Well I am more than delighted to tell you she has finally gone through the change and is now a full wolfshifter.” He paused a little as the pack started to move and make small talk. He cleared his throat and the pack went quiet. Wow way to go Conner!

“Tonight we will feast and celibrate. The pack can finally be a real pack again. Ever since my mother died at my birth there hasn't been anyone that took over the role of luna. I now announce that the pack will have a new luna. Miria shall be my mate from now on and will take the role of luna on her.”

Okay here I thought the pack would get up and protest but they didn't. So this is the effect an alpha's command has. I bit my bottom lip and took a slight step forward and smiled a little at the pack. I still got a lot of dark and mean looks.

“Before we head out I need to inform you of somthing more. As Miria was coming back to the village she heard a werewolfs howl. I comfirm this as I was awake and heard it to. I don't allow anyone outside the village when its dark. I will select 8 hunters that will accompany Miria and me to get some fresh meat. The rest of you will start in building a wall around the village. We cannot allow a werewolf to kill any more of us. We need to defend ourselfs.”

By mentioning a werewolf the pack got into a slight panic but due to Conner's command they couldn't leave before he was finished. It's already getting late maybe we should focus on making the wall as a defense first.

I looked up at Conner and slightly squeezed his hand to get his attention. He turned around and smiled at me. Before I could say anything he moved closer to me and softly pressed his lips against mine. I was a bit suprised but quickly responded to him.

“What's on your mind love?” He cupped my cheek with his hand and brushed his thump over my cheek.

“Maybe we shouldn't hunt yet. I mean I think it's more important to try and defend the village rather than having a party for me.”
