“You will obey me. I am your Alpha. And as your Alpha, I command you to…” My father took his Alpha tone.

“Richard, do you know how early it is in the morning?” My mom walked into the office agitated. She was not pleasant when she was mad. Her hair and clothes were messed up.

“Lily, go back to bed,” My father demanded growling looking up at her.

“No, we need to talk to him about what’s going on. So let him up.” She started to walk towards us on the ground.

“I have, he refuses,” My dad loosened his grip on me as I started to squirm and growl at him.

“Why,” My mother asked like I wasn’t in the room.

‘They don’t care about our mate. We must protect our mate.’ My wolf started to push through. His voice was the only one I heard. I acted on instinct when I saw my father’s attention being diverted to my mother who was near us.

‘Take him down,’ My wolf took over.

I grabbed my father’s arm and threw him across the room. He slammed against the wall. Shifting, I jumped growled at him. The look of surprise on his face was priceless. I actually prided myself in that fact. Then, I smelled the blood of my father.

‘Serves him right,’ My wolf purred. No, he didn’t deserve that. I took a step back forcing myself to shift back in control over my body.

“Richard,” My mother gasped in shock moving towards my father against the wall. I had never responded like that before. I was always controlled. What was I doing? I just stared at my dad against the wall.

She whimpered putting a hand on his cheek.

“I’m fine, Lily,” My dad finally spoke. He placed his hand on her hand on his face. He smiled softly and patted her hand softy. They must have had a little conversation of him reassuring her in his head. After we complete the mating, we can speak through the mated bond much like the pack is with its Alpha.

‘Our mate,’ Both me and my wolf sighed.

“Ian, when were you going to tell me?” My father stood up with the help of my mother.

“Tell him what?” My mother looked confused at my father then at me.

“Our son has found his mate.” My father looked at me sighing with a small smile on his face.

“Is this true?” My mom moved towards me.

“Yes, I…we need to see her.” I nodded.

‘We will,’ My wolf assured me.

“You don’t know who she is. Did this happen tonight?” My mom pulled me over to sit in the chair.

“Yes, I didn’t get to see her. I heard her beautiful voice sing and her scent is amazing. I need to meet her.” I sighed looking at my mother.

“Why didn’t you?” My mother asked concerned.

“My wolf took over during the concert by her scent. I couldn’t get control. Evan had to take me out before I could find her in the group. He lured me to the forest. I shifted and tried to take him out. I chased him purely out of protection of our mate. As soon as I got far enough away from campus, I noticed what he was doing and turned around to start running back to our mate. However, Evan strangled me to the ground, and I blacked out.” I finished shaking my head at my stupidity.

‘You aren’t stupid. It is our mate.’ My wolf comforted me. Shut up, this is your fault.

He growled.

“Oh, son, you will, but you need to get you and your wolf under control.” She took my hands in hers a look of understanding across her face.

“We have to see her.” My wolf answered for me.

“But, Ian, you don’t want to hurt her.” She continued.

“We need to see her.” I continued undeterred.

“Think about her, she will get frightened of you.” She started to get impatient.

“Mother, we have to have her.” I almost growled at her.

“Ian, you are not thinking rationally. Where is my Ian?” She looked at me confused, hurt, and angry.

“Lily, how about I speak to him? You go on to bed.” My father interrupted her. She looked at him and nodded. After mom left, dad took the seat in front of me.

“How?” I asked.

“Son, it doesn’t matter. I need to get you settled and relaxed. You are very volatile. You don’t want to hurt anyone. Your wolf and you need to learn to get along for one. Also, you need to realize your mate is the most important thing to protect even from yourself. You and your wolf are not in any shape to see your mate. You will scare her away, and she will reject you. Do you want that?” My father looked at me.

“No,” I whispered.

“Alright, you are going to be on watch out duty with Jared every day. You will do training with me in the mornings. And in the evenings, you will do your studies from the people in the pack that are in your classes. You will not set a foot on campus or near your mate until you and your wolf are mature enough to be around them.” Richard looked me in the eyes seriously waiting for me to challenge him.

I sat there trying to hold myself together. My wolf and I wanted to rip his head off and run and find our mate. But, I knew I wasn’t ready or in control so I would do something stupid and lose her if I went to her now.

“Do you understand?”

“Yes,” I sighed.

“You will not see her until you are ready.” My father continued.

“Fine,” I looked down.

“Go get dressed; we are leaving in an hour to visit the neighboring pack.” He got up and moved to his desk.

“I am not mating Sapphire.” I hissed.

“I know, but you are now going to have to tell them. Oh, and you will be there to find another option for peace, future Alpha.” My dad looked down at a file on his desk.

“Alright,” I nodded.

“And you will not leave until peace is found.” My father said as I walked out of the office to prepare for the trip.
