You Knew (H.G., S.M.)

Premature

I wobble to the car, screaming in pain. I sit in the back with my head on Mahogany's lap. Matt turns around and checks on me every five seconds. I grunt and feel like I'm going to die.

"Hang on babe, we're almost there." Shawn said looking in the rear view mirror. I propped my feet up on the window sill.

"Son of a-" Shawn said as he kept looking in his rear view mirror. I heard a police siren. Oh my god. Shawn groaned as well. Shawn pulled over.

"License and Registration please." The cop at Shawn's window asked him. He took the things from Shawn and walked back to his car. I grunted again.

"Hang on okay, we'll be there soon." Shawn assured me. He stuck his hand out, I grabbed it and squeezed tight. I'm having a contraction.

"She's having a contraction, we need to get to the hospital Shawn." Mahogany said. The policeman came back, finally.

"Were you aware of how fast you were going?" He asked. Shawn nodded.

"I'm sorry sir, my girlfriend's going into labor and I have to rush her to the hospital." Shawn said. I grunt again. The man gave Shawn a pink piece of paper, it was probably a warning.

"Okay, but please be careful." The policeman said and walked back to his car.

"Hang on okay?" Shawn asked before he started driving again.

*at hospital*

Shawn carried me in, they put my in a room. A dozen nurses surrounded me. Shawn was by my side. Mahogany and Matt stayed in the waiting room.

"C'mon babe, you're doing great." Shawn said. I smiled. I snapped out of reality and began to think of what could happen: are they going to be okay? I'm not due for another three months. I'm due November 4, it's August 4 right now. Why am I going into labor? A million thoughts circle in my head. I hear one tiny cry and it snaps me back to reality. I smile when I see a small baby, I realize that it's mine. Then another baby, but no cries. I begin to worry. A nurse hands me the small crying bundle of joy.

"It's a-"
