My Old Life

It's been a few days sitting in this boring hospital while hearing the constant beeping noises and crying. And the smell of latex is giving me a headache. The brown eyed man sat with me, never leaving my side. He'd called me baby a few times, which made me wonder what we are, or were, or if I really love him. And he'd told me about a guy Ned Hayes. He told me to stay away from him, he said that he tried to kill me multiple times. I passed out a lot from the medicine, always going back to this woman in a beautiful house sitting on a couch drinking tea. She'd call me Brianna, while the doctors called me Angela. I'd sit with her as she told me how proud she is of me and that she misses me, she explained that I have two daughters and am engaged, she said she would always be looking out for me, but she forgot to mention the baby, the baby my fiance always mentioned to the doctors. He'd end up in tears like it'd be the first time he'd heard the bad news. He was so excited, little John Doe he called him. I sort of remember but I can't put anything together. I'd finally be released from the hospital today, now. I filled the paperwork out and my fiance helped me to his car, he'd wiped the tears from his eyes that kept falling for days.

"Who are you?" I ask. He smiles a sad smile. He runs his hand across my cheek and pulls me in to kiss him, his warm lips against mine feels right.

"I love you, remember that." He said tenderly as he pulled out of the parking garage.

"Shawn." He said as we made our way to the exit.

"My name is Shawn, and you, you are Angela Connors. Mother to Brianna and Scarlet, our two-year old twins." Wow this is a lot. How could I not remember them? How could I forget my family? We finally pull into the driveway of a beautiful brick house, with a swing set in the grass. The man from the hospital sits on a porch swing watching the two little girls play on the porch with looks like a few Barbie dolls, a blond haired little girl sat with them. I didn't see the cop anywhere.

"Is the blonde haired girl ours?" I ask, he smiles and shakes his head.

"That's Sky, she's Nash's little sister. She comes over a lot because you and her are amazing together." He explained. I nod.

"Are we married?" I ask. He shakes his head and looks at his ring.

"I picked a venue and date but when I was going to tell you, it was too late. You were in the hospital and I was grieving." He explained quietly. Pain still struck his face, he sighed and held my hand. He took the key out of the ignition and we both opened our doors and stepped out of the car. I felt the gravel scuff my boots. I had an amazing life, it's just sad that I can't remember any of it.
