Charles and Andi were mid-conversation, lounged out on opposite ends of the couch, a half-eaten bowl of popcorn between them. She was laughing at something he'd said — head tipped back.
And then:
"DISTRACTIOOOOOOOON!"
Lando screamed with zero warning, launching himself across the room.
Charles barely had time to register the blur before Lando collided into him, one arm slapping over his eyes while the other yanked at his shoulder. "Lando?! What the hell—?!"
"Get up!" Lando hissed, already dragging him up and off the couch. Charles stumbled forward, nearly knocking over the coffee table, sending a cushion flying as he caught himself on the edge.
Andi's eyes flew wide. "What's happening?! What are you doing—?!"
"GET UP!" Lando shouted again, as if the volume would compensate for the absolute lack of explanation. He then started dragging Charles toward the door like they were under attack.
"What—? Why?!" Charles twisted against him, confused and alarmed; he kept trying to glance over his shoulder at Andi. He tried to turn back around, but Lando smacked a hand over his eyes again.
"Uhhhh... your uh... Max!" Lando blurted out. "Yes, Max! He wants to, uh— he needs to speak to you, or something, I don't know, just come on!"
Charles blinked. "Wait— what?! Is he okay?!"
"NO! Uh— Yes! I don't know! It's urgent!" Lando shoved the front door open with one hand, the other still guiding a half-resistant Charles. "You're gonna wanna get ahead of it before he loses his shit, okay?! Trust me!"
Before Charles could form a coherent question, he turned around toward Andi, who'd sat frozen throughout the entire ambush.
"Think about what I said, okay?" He called over Lando's shoulder.
