"It is my pleasure to meet you, Aurora."
Aurora and Severus had gone to bed not that much longer after he had returned from his meeting with the Dark Lord. Come the next morning, they skipped breakfast, preferring to lie in bed and cuddle, wanting nothing more than to be close to each other. They knew what was coming that night and didn't know exactly how to prepare for it. Both had the same thoughts running through their mind. Severus was worried about how Voldemort would react to meeting his wife, and Aurora believed she was going to die.
Neither expressed their fears to their partner, but Aurora and Severus already knew what the other thought. There was no point digging into the matter when it would present itself later that evening.
And so, what they did to fill the day was eat and have sex.
From the moment they woke up, Aurora had attacked her husband, craving the man. Yes, she desperately wanted to enjoy the feel of Severus, but she also desired a distraction. And, being her husband, Severus understood his wife all too well. He complied, also wanting nothing more than to feel her skin against his. They loved one another, both seeking the diversion because of what would happen later. Even though the meeting with Voldemort was several hours away, they both didn't want to think about it as it was a future problem. There was no need to excessively worry about a future event.
But, even after claiming each other several times, they still needed sustenance. Leaving their bed to shower and dress, they moved to the kitchen, where Aurora wanted nothing more than to eat carbs. So, she made homemade spaghetti with garlic bread. Sitting at their small breakfast table, they ate. Aurora consumed more than three bowls as she was starving and wanted nothing but to eat. Severus found this amusing and decided to comment on it as well.
"Hungry much, my dear wife?" He had a smile on his face.
She was already on her fourth bowl and was considering getting a fifth. At this point, there wouldn't be any leftovers for the following day. "I can't help it. You know I stress eat when something makes me nervous."
"Yeah, but that's usually with dessert, not spaghetti."
"I can't help it if my food is delicious."
"And delicious it is, sweetheart." Finishing her bowl, Aurora stood at the stove, filling up her fifth and last bowl. Sitting back down, she tried to smile, but it was difficult with everything on her mind. Severus instantly noticed. "Everything will be alright, Aurora. You must believe that."
"I can't help but...think the worst."
The wizard lifted an eyebrow. "And the worst would be, what? The Dark Lord - "
"Killing me."
Severus lowered his eyes. He knew his wife had been thinking negatively all day, but not that. It had been a fear of hers before, and he had to understand why should would think so today. Reaching across the tiny table, the male grasped her hand. "I will protect you, Aurora. I cannot guarantee what the Dark Lord will do, but what I can guarantee is that we won't kill you, not in front of me."
"But...wouldn't he thrive on that? Killing your Muggleborn wife in front of his most trusted follower? Voldemort is best at killing people, Severus. Or, at least ordering his followers to do the killing."
