Trixie was still in the car, pacing around and whining. She gave another try scratching the door open but failed, only chipping her nail. "This is horrible... I should've left..." the fox sat down, wrapping her tail around her paws and staring at the ground. "It's my fault he got arrested..." Finally, the endless rumbling noise of the truck stopped, and Trixie heard the door opening. She backed to a corner and snapped at the hand that tried to coax her out. "We'll have to put her under for now." one of the humans said. A sharp poke hit her shoulder and Trixie suddenly felt dizzy and sleepy. She yawned and curled into a ball of fur, the dart she was shot with taking action.
Trixie awoke with a start, hitting her head on the metal bars of what seemed to be a cage. She yelped in pain and rubbed her head with a paw. "Welcome to the animal shelter." a voice growled. "W-Why am I here?" Trixie responded. "Don't you remember? Your 'human' was arrested. It was a huge deal and pretty much every animal here knows." the voice, who she figured out was a coyote, said. "They're releasing us today, into the woods. I hear that there's a pack of foxes somewhere in the Ginger Forest. I can finally get back to MY pack... Not that they would care. I'm Iron, what's your name?" Iron asked, "I'm Trixie..." Iron laughed. "Ha, once you get into the woods you'll need a real name!" he barked. "My name is real!" Trixie growled, blushing angrily. "No, a REAL name, like, I used to be named Sniff." the fox snickered. Iron growled and both of them immediately shut up when a human entered the room. Iron bared his teeth and snarled and Trixie backed into the corner of her cage. The same poke hit Trixie's shoulder and she noticed Iron collapsing into a snoring ball of fur. Trixie had the same reaction.
The sharp scent of leaves and trees hit Trixie's nose as she slowly opened her eyes. She was still in a cage, but one with a hard rubber material. Suddenly, the doors were flung open and Iron shot outside. Trixie flattened her ears and remained indoors. They dumped her onto the floor and quickly closed the cage, loading it into the truck. Trixie whined and tucked her tail under her legs. "Well, my only hope for survival is going into the forest..."
Trixie wandered through the woods, feeling confident. "Don't worry, Trixie. You'll get through this." she told herself again. After an hour of wandering, she decided to get some food. I've caught a mouse before, so it can't be so hard. Trixie smelled a mouse and took off after it. Suddenly, a crack filled her ear and her head was engulfed in pain as a rock thudded next to her. She fainted as sniffing surrounded her, and she didn't defend herself, somehow knowing this was her key to safety.
