Ginger Forest

Chapter 5

Iron was like a tornado, snapping and biting at Trixie's pursuers. The group of foxes tried as hard as they could, but eventually gave up and ran. "W-wow..." she gasped in amazement at the coyote, who just rolled his eyes. 

"Be more careful. It's not easy living out here, follow me."

Trixie rose to her paws uneasily, trailing after the dark canine, "Where are we going...?" 

"To my pack,"

"WHAT?"

"I'll tell them to treat you like you should be treated,"

"Will they listen?"

"It'll be a sin if they don't."

"...okay?"

Iron continued leading Trixie to a beautiful camp area, it was neatly packed into a shallow, meadowy clearing right next to a pond. Each den was lined against the wall of the clearing that had a nice, smooth stairway made out of river rocks. There was a small creek that led to a puddle in the middle of the area that pups were playing in. "Here is my pack," Iron began before being interrupted by a sandy colored coyote with a long scar trailing from his muzzle to the side of his face. "Alpha! You're back, with... live prey?" 

"Wait, Alpha?" Trixie was dumbfounded as she flattened her light brown ears, "I told you they'd have to listen to me. Shrew, this is Trixie, a fox I met while I was held captive. Her pack was trying to kill her," 

"Tough luck." Shrew sneered at Trixie, "You are to treat her as one of us, so stop it with the sneering or I will be forced to punish you."

"Don't abuse your power, brother." the coyote turned and stepped back into the clearing, whispering something to a female, who threw a dirty look at Trixie. "Follow me, I'll announce it to the pack so they won't try any funny-business."

Iron stood up on top of the Alpha's Cave and howled. The camp was immediately lined with tons of coyotes. "Pack, as some of you know, I bought a fox into the camp," there were collective groans of protest, "but she was a friend to me when I was stolen. You shall treat her like you treat a pup, and if anyone is to hurt or attempt to cause her spite, that will result in severe punishment from me. You may resume your activities and duties. Trixie, follow me."
