Zurfasha’s POV

Life is unpredictable. One minute you're laughing with the people you love, the next you're searching for pieces of yourself. I never thought I’d have to live without Ammi. She was my everything my companion, my strength. I was certain I wouldn’t survive her loss. But here I am… breathing, still standing.

I sighed and leaned back on the garden chair, letting the early morning breeze wash over me. My hand rested instinctively on my baby bump, now very visible. I looked down and smiled.

“Hi, meri jaan,” I whispered.

Aaj kal bohot thaka dete ho tum mujhe. But I still love you endlessly. Main tumhare liye maa bhi banoongi, aur baap bhi.”

(You tire me a lot these days, but I love you. I’ll be both a mother and a father for you.)

I gasped when I felt a little kick. A bubble of laughter escaped with a few tears.

“Was that ‘I love you too’?” I whispered, grinning like an idiot.

I closed my eyes, soaking in the calm — birds chirping, leaves rustling. Perfect.

AYAAAT!!”

Scratch that. Forget I said perfect.

I opened my eyes to find a miniature Minnie Mouse in pajamas sprinting toward me at full speed.

Phupo, bachao mujhe!” she shrieked, diving behind me like a soldier dodging enemy fire.

(Aunt, save me!)

“Par hua kya hai?” I asked, already suppressing a giggle.
(But what happened?)

That’s when I saw him.

Shahzaib. Marching toward us like a man whose dignity had been brutally attacked. My eyes fell on his hair… and I lost it.

“Don’t. You. Dare. Laugh!” he warned, but it was too late. I was wheezing.

“Tumne hi bigaara hai isse,” he accused, glaring at me.

(You spoiled her.)
