-Chapter 6-
"How dare you!" I screeched, stalking towards her in anger.
"You left us all those years ago, and never returned. We thought you had died! Father took his own life because he thought he had lost you!"
I reached her small frame sitting upon an intricate golden throne. Full of rage so deep that I could no longer control my actions, I spat in her face.
Slowly, my mother wiped the saliva from her face with her laced sleeve. She stared at me with an unknown emotion in her eyes, and it frightened me.
"Gunther is dead?" She asked quietly.
"Of course he is dead! His wife left him and never came back!"
"How did I not foresee it?" My mother murmured worriedly, rubbing her temples furiously.
"Forsee what?" I snapped, livid at the fact that my mother had not reacted properly to the death of her husband.
"The passing of Gunther. After the Change I was granted the gift of Sight. I am able to see into another time." My mother spoke calmly as if I already knew about her odd gift.
"If this is true, then how did you not know about the death of Father?" I asked suspiciously. Although she was my mother, I had never encountered her before. She could be deceiving me.
"I do not know! Perhaps I may only see those that have shifted," she cried, and tears began to stream down her cheeks.
I felt compelled to comfort her, so I hesitantly reached out my arms and took her frail body into them.
"Let us return to Thorn now, Mother. We can bring Sasha as well!" I proposed as her tears subsided.
"I cannot, Little Ara. This is my place now, this is where I belong."
I gripped her tighter and refused to believe her. Drinking in her scent, I smelled sweet cherry blossoms. They were very rare in Thorn. Then I smelt something mixed in with the blossoms, a wild and animalistic scent that was vaguely familiar.
My eyes widened with realization, and I released my grip on her body, backing away in fear and anger.
"Wolf!" I accused, staring at my mother as if she had transformed into one before my very eyes.
"Allow me to explain!" She cried, reaching out for my hand.
I slapped it away and began to scream, filled with rage.
"You traitor! How could you become and Unknown? You have turned your back on your people and betrayed your family!"
"I had no choice!" My mother powerfully rebutted. "When I arrived in the land of the wolves so many years ago, I met my mate and he transformed me. At first, I hated William for doing such a thing, but now I would not have asked for anything different. He awakened my abilities and showed me true love, and I am forever grateful," she explained, her eyes filled with love.
"I thought you loved Father," I sneered venomously, unable to accept the fact that while Father mourned his wife, she had been with another man.
My mother winced.
"I once believed the same, however the connection between a wolf and his mate is far more powerful."
"You shall not be forgiven," I said stonily, staring at her with hate-filled eyes.
"One day, you will understand," she spoke sadly.
Abruptly, her eyes shifted to the door. It burst open, and none other than the man that I had escaped from stepped in.
He looked from my mother to me, then bowed his head in respect.
"My humble apologies, Seer Falina. I have been searching for my mate, and it seems that I have found her," he said and met my gaze.
Horrified, I looked to my mother for assistance but she merely smiled.
"She is yours, Prince Hunter."
Hunter bowed his head once more and took my hand in his own, dragging me from the room.
"Mother!" I screamed in desperation, but she simply winked at me before the door flew shut.
