-Chapter 13-
I only have a day before my blasted wedding. If my plan fails, I shall be forced to marry Hunter. The thought fills me with dread.
"I have a proposal to make," I had told the king before my departure of the throne room.
"Yes, little one?" He boomed.
My eyes narrowed into slits at the sound of that horrid name, but I needed to focus myself onto the plan.
"I have no father to accompany me down the aisle. He took his own life many years ago." At these words the queen gasped.
I looked woefully into the eyes of the queen. "However I have heard word that my sister dwells in the kingdom. Might she take my father's place as escort?" My bottom lip quivered with fake weakness.
The queen glanced at her husband with a pleading look to her eye, and he relentlessly agreed.
I squealed, unable to contain my happiness, and clasped my hands together. Finally, I shall see my beloved Sasha!
The next fews days passed as if in a blur. Gown after gown of silky white material was thrust at me from left and right. Unknowns crowded me, yanking at my hair and gossiping of mates and unmated males.
Normally I would already have annihilated the entire female Unknown population, however the promise of seeing Sasha kept me from my violent thoughts.
I remained silent, the promise of seeing my Sasha filling me with a hope bubbling from my belly.
Once the herd of Unknowns were satisfied with my appearance, they stepped back and cooed at me while I silently glared.
I hated them for taking my sister and destroying my village. How could they ever think that I would willingly wed their prince?
Torfus appeared in a silky black suit and trousers, and immediately chuckled at the sight of me.
The long, flowing gown the Unknowns had decided to place upon my body could not possibly reveal more skin. Long slits that reached my hips exposed my legs, and the plunging neckline hung dangerously low. I felt as if the Unknowns wished for Hunter to mate me during the wedding procession.
I glowered at Torfus, crossing my arms over my chest to conceal my exposed chest.
"Still feisty, I see," Torfus winked and continued on his way.
My lips pursed in anger at the thought of the Unknowns all laughing at my appearance, and decided that perhaps the wedding should not go on after all.
Then I thought of my dear sister and I gathered my resolve. All this was for her, and I could not give up now because of my silly pride.
I held my head high and proudly strutted out of my cramped chambers, my wedding dress swishing as I walked.
Seeing Katia and Faun carrying piles of ribbon and lace, I stopped them to ask for Sasha's whereabouts.
"You shall soon see her," was all Katia replied and Faun hid her face from view.
I sighed, frustrated, but determinedly kept on down the hall towards the throne room.
The queen gasped as I entered, raving about my beauty and how Hunter will be very pleased. I smiled passively and waited for her to finish, hiding my clenched fists from view.
"The ceremony shall take place in the palace gardens," the queen explained, grasping my arm firmly.
She led me out of the ballroom and through a large oak door, and as the fresh spring air greeted me I mewed in pleasure.
