-Chapter 17-

Hunter drew lazy circles around the black paw on my shoulder, and each time his fingers brushed it I shivered.

We had been lying in bed for hours, yet I could not bring myself to depart from him.

Sasha.

I had yet to discover how I felt about my sister and how she had reacted to our reuniting. I felt it only to be best to visit her once more and have the chance to truly speak with her.

"I must see my sister," I began to say but ended with a sigh of pleasure.

Hunter trailed a finger down my arm.

"Perhaps tomorrow," he hummed and placed kisses on my neck.

I stretched my neck to grant him better access.

"'Tis very important," I tried once more.

Hunter wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled our bodies so that they were flushed against one another.

"Another day," he whispered huskily in my ear and I mewed in pleasure.

I curled myself further into his warmth and reveled at his touch. No matter how hard I had attempted to hate him, this Unknown had stolen my heart.

As my feelings ventured through my brain and I tensed up, flustered. I had yet to love a single soul apart from my family, so this was a new and strange occurrence.

Hunter snapped his eyes to mine as if he had read my thoughts.

"I love you," he murmured passionately, pressing his soft lips to mine and growling in pleasure.

Before I could refrain myself I had already accepted his embrace and was returning the kiss.

Closing my eyes in bliss, I allowed Hunter to devour my very soul. 'Twas not a simple task to tame a wild woman such as myself, yet somehow Hunter had entered the deepest chamber of my heart.

As we separated for air, I found myself longing to return the three precious words he had spoken to me.

Dare I express my newfound love?

"H-Hunter," I began shakily, nerves bubbling up in my stomache. I then stopped, perplexed at what to say next.

Hunter raised a brow at my expression, most likely pondering my reason for having the appearance of a gaping fish.

Internally I cursed myself for my foolish behavior. I had hunted wild animals, bested all the men in archery, and survived on my own for years. How can one man, an Unknown for that matter, manage to shatter my shield of armor?

"Ara?" Hunter questioned, placing a hand on my arm worriedly.

I smiled weakly and swallowed.

"I LOVE YOU TOO!" I practically shouted, then winced at my failure to express my feelings.

Hunter began to laugh, a low chuckle that sent shivers down my spine.

My eyes held daggers as I pouted at his mockery. How dare he laugh at me?

"Come here my little vixen," Hunter murmured gently as his chuckles subsided.

I shook my head stubbornly. I had professed my love and he laughs in my face. Perhaps I was correct about the Unknowns all along.

As I continued to pout childishly Hunter quietly reached behind my back and began tickling my neck.

How on earth did he discover my weakness?
