Theodore's body clock usually doesn't miss—8 a.m. on the dot, and his eyes snap open. It's rare for him to sleep in until 9 a.m., even when he's stayed up all night studying. That's just how his body and mind are wired.
So when he awakens at 10 a.m., with Jacob already drinking coffee by the center table, he nearly lets out a shriek.
"Wha—? Why didn't you wake me?" he grumbles, sitting up, as a jolt of ache runs from his lower back to his legs, nearly toppling him back onto the bed.
Dressed in his undershirt from the night before, which does very little to hide his neck, Jacob shrugs. "You have every right to sleep in. It's a long weekend."
Jacob has a good point. Including some aftercare, they'd drifted off just as the sun peeked out from the clouds.
It had been a long night, and Theodore deserves a break—physically and mentally.
However, Jacob looking so at ease grates at his nerves. Truly, he can't underestimate an athlete's stamina.
"Can you... uh, toss me the robe?" Theodore requests, letting the blanket fall to his lap.
Jacob's eyes darken as he regards his naked upper body. Theodore's cheeks heat up, recalling a few scenes from last night. More importantly, the light exposes traces of Jacob on him, and he now feels too naked for his liking.
Setting his mug down, Jacob stands, grabs the robe from the accent chair by the glass windows, and gives it to Theodore, a lopsided smile tugging at his mouth.
Theodore rolls his eyes and slips it on. "What? You're gonna tease me about being shy?"
"I am going to tease you about being shy."
He ties the belt around his waist and slips out of bed. "Christ," he mutters, stumbling slightly as another wave of pain hits him.
He's sore all over.
Lines deepen on Jacob's forehead. "Does it still hurt?"
Theodore considers being dramatic about it, but his boyfriend seems too anxious.
Jacob was careful with him, even though he occasionally ignored Theodore's pleas—like how he settled into a rhythm only he could withstand. Still, Jacob knew what he was doing, and the initial twinge of discomfort was forgotten too soon.
Theodore enjoyed himself.
Way too much, actually. Hidden underneath the fabric are pieces of evidence sprinkled across Jacob's body.
Theodore ruffles Jacob's already unkempt hair, brushing a finger along his left eyebrow. "Nothing I can't handle."
"So we can do it again?"
He huffs. "Not now."
"When?"
Theodore saunters to the bathroom, waving a hand.
"Wheeeeeeennnnnn?"
He hears Jacob ask mischievously as he disappears into the bathroom—locking the door behind him promptly.
For good measure.

"I am done," Austin groans, forehead bumping faintly against the desk, eyes shut. "Evidence is so damn hard."
In their nook, away from the other students, Jacob, Theodore, Stella, and Austin scramble to finish the last stretch of the term.
"It's finals. Come on. You can do it," Stella says, her attention not wandering from her laptop screen.
