At twelve-thirty, my boss walked into my office saying that it was my turn for lunch- something he had never done before. After grabbing my bag and coat and Dylan puts on his 'disguise', me, Daisy, Derek and Dylan head to the elevator to find Charlotte and go get something to eat.
Dylan hit the button for the bottom floor which considering this place is a fourteen story building including reception and the underground parking lot, is quite far. For me anyway.
"Daisy? did you edit the final chapter I sent you?" I ask, looking at my hand that magically intertwined with Dylan's. When did that happen?
"What? oh- no, sorry. I didn't realise you had sent it." She said, apologetically. I nod and roll my eyes.
"It's my fault, Lara." Derek tells me.
"Yes, I know Derek. Like I knew every time before today when this happened."
"Someone's mardy."
"Someone's pissing me off, ring any bells?" I ask him sweetly.
He glares at me, and so does Daisy. I could cut the tension that was created with a airborne knife. Nothing any blunter would work, that's how much tension was in the atmosphere. The elevator door opened with a ding and I stomped my way out, dragging Dylan with me.
"Hey, Lara! where we heading?" Charlotte says, ruffling through her bag and walking towards us. For the first time today, I take in her outfit. She was wearing a kiriana two piece pink grey bandage dress, white high heeled pumps, Ray bans the same colour as the pink on her dress, leather fingerless gloves and a flower crown.
"I was thinking Bittersweet cafe?"
"Yes!" she squeals excitedly.
"I knew you would." I laugh.
"What's so special about Bittersweet?" Dylan asks.
I lean into his ear, not willing to say it aloud for others to hear. . . especially in a writing and publishing building like this. Everyone on my floor is a fangirl like myself.
"It's a cafe dedicated to people in fandoms." I whisper. He laughs and shakes his head.
"Teen wolf?" He asks.
"Yep."
"Divergent?"
"Of course."
"Maze runner?"
"What do you think?"
"Sherlock?"
"Are we seriously starting this again?"
"No."
"Good."
We turn in unison to see the entire lobby quiet. My friends were staring at us but I rolled my eyes and turned my attention to Charlotte.
"Ready to go?"
"Did Newt dies in the death cure?"
"Too far, Charlotte. . . to far."
"Sorry, my treat?"
"Yes. Still don't forgive you."
"I know."
...
We walk in and the familiar smell of books and chocolate fills my nose. I smile as I claim my usual table by the window and not far from the library corner of the shop filling with books from all sorts of fandoms.
"Hey, Lara! I might as well reserve that table for you since you're here all the time and that is the only table you sit at." My newly found friend jokes. Theo is in his early twenties like myself, with green eyes and hair that just reaches his eyes, he just so happened to be the manager of the cafe.
