I walk into the café and smile as I see her. I walk up to the counter and when she turns around and sees me, she scowls and looks at me in disgust.
"What do you want, Dylan?" She mocks with a smirk on her face.
I put on one of my most innocent ones. "Awe! You remembered my name!"
She rolls her eyes. "I said, what do you want?"
"I heard what you said, Love. I just chose to ignore you." I say, simply shrugging my shoulders.
"You're wasting my time." She says, before walking off.
I wait till she's some distance away then I shout for the manager. Shortly after, a short chubby man with mop of fair hair walks out of an office and comes towards me.
"How can I help, miss?" He asks.
"Croft." I say with a smile. "Lara Croft."
The Barbie sequel comes walking towards us and scoffs.
"Like the game character, Lara Croft? The one who is played by Angelina Jolie in the films?" She asks.
"Yes, also the world famous author." I tell her sweetly.
Her eyes widen and her mouth opens wide.
"H-how can I h-help, miss Croft?" the short man asks me.
"Well, first I would like to speak about the service I am getting here. All I did was walk in and I'm getting abuse of this. . . woman here." I tell him, pointing to the waitress who was fuming.
"Really?" the manager says, turning to raise an eyebrow at her.
"And, she walked off before I could even order, telling me I was 'wasting her time'."
"You are not wasting anyone's time, Miss Croft." He says, squinting his eyes at her.
She squirms uncomfortably under his intense gaze, I swear I could see her make up run down her face but that might just be my eyes.
"Well, I will be having words with this young lady here, but for now, what would you like? You can have anything, it's on the house."
"Really?" I ask.
"Yeah. . . Small favour though." He asks, scratching the back of his head.
What is it with people doing that?
"Depends what it is."
"Can I, uh- have your autograph?" He asks. "My daughter is a major fan of your books."
I smile. "Of course."
I hear the door open and a familiar squeal catches my attention. Dakota sees me and waves, the one and a half month year old is learning very quickly and he sort of reminds me of his father, impatient to grow a bit before he starts doing things.
I wave Dylan and Kota over and when they get to me I give them a kiss each. I grab Kota from Dylan and I rest him on the counter. He smiles up at me and I make faces causing him to laugh.
"Two hot chocolates please, and a cup of hot water to heat this bottle up." I say as Dylan hands it over.
"Don't worry about the bottle, I will do it myself." He says, taking the bottle and walking into the back place.
The girl I notice was wearing a name tag. Kelli.
"So, you got pregnant huh?" she sneers at me, I raise an eyebrow at her.
"Yeah, nine months ago."
"Nine?"
"Yeah, he was one month premature." I told her.
