The grip around Y/n's hand tightened, her fingers trembling against the cold metal of the dagger. She was annoyed. She was about to end it all-to pierce a heart and break a curse.

The air shifted. A chill wrapped around the room like winter's breath. Her heart jumped. Slowly, she turned her head toward the sound of footsteps.

A figure stood there. In the middle of the ballroom.

Anyone could tell it was a man-the towering six-foot frame, strong and broad-shouldered, tall. Still. Wrapped in a black cloak that clung to his strong frame like shadows clinging to the night. He moved with no rush, like time itself bowed for him. His head was down, and the hood hid his face.

Another gust of cold swept through the hall, brushing past her skin like ghostly fingers. She shivered, but then... something warm followed. A strange warmth spread across her skin, like arms she once knew wrapping around her again. Like a memory made of fire and home.

Her breath caught.

She couldn't look away. Her eyes were locked on the man's face which was still hidden beneath a hood. And then, slowly... the man lifted his head.

Time stopped.

The hall, the dagger, the war inside her-all vanished. All that remained were those eyes. One monolid, one with a soft double fold-both glowing with a blue she would never forget. A blue that once held her like the sky holds stars.

Y/n's lips parted, but no sound came out. Her knees weakened. Her heart screamed.

It's him.

The smirk that touched his lips wasn't cruel, but it held something wild. A twist of playfulness and demonic.

"Tae," she whispered, her voice breaking like glass.

Tears welled in her eyes, blurring his face, but she still saw him. She still felt him. Even few meters away feom him y/n still felt his heartbeat trough the pack bond they had with her. His slow breaths echoed in her eyes.

She took a shaky step forward, tears slipping down her cheeks like rain.

Taehyung's smile softened, just for a breath, for a second . Just for her before slipping back into his scary smirk.

His eyes drifted, slow and steady, to the hand she kept hidden behind the folds of her dress. And when he saw it-her fingers curled, ready to strike-his smirk deepened.

"Easy there, little tiger," came his voice, low and smooth in her head.

Taehyung looked slim different now. The boyish softness in him had faded, carved away by time and war and death. He stood taller, his shoulders broader, his presence heavier. Like a storm cloaked in ice. But underneath all that, he was still him. Still the boy who had once held her hand at the edge of a mountain. Still the dragon who had smiled at her one last time before falling into the cold below.
