We were exhausted as we got dressed and then dressed Mary. Mary was smiling up at us as we changed her diaper. At least she was happy was all I thought.

"After the appointment bring us home, please, Paul?" I asked as he looked at me with his tired eyes.

"Okay but if you want to sleep you have to have John or someone look after her," Paul said as I put Mary in her carrier. Paul grabbed the diaper bag as we walked out the bedroom door.

"I know.. I will I need it, I barely slept in the hosptial and then last night.. well night was like hell," I said as we walked down the stairs, "I love Mary but damn.."

"I know," He said looking down at Mary who had her eyes closed with her pacifier in her mouth. "I'll bring you guys home don't worry," We walked out the door, it was only 10:30am and it was already burning hot out. We got in the car and drove off to Dr. Schick's office.

We walked into the waiting room no one was in there just the receptionist, Lisa. I walked up to the desk with Mary. Paul sat down in a chair and closed his eyes, I didn't blame him.

"Oh my god, you did have the baby.. she's beautiful," Lisa said as I set Mary on the reception desk. "She.. she looks just like your husband," Paul opened his eyes and looked up, I smiled at him. He waved at Lisa, who was smiling at him too.

"Thanks, Lisa," I said taking the carrier off the desk. Paul got up from the chair and stood at my side.

"Dr. Schick will be available in a minute or so, you can take a seat, " Lisa said as Paul sat back down and I sat beside him with Mary in front of us. She had her eyes opening looking up at us. "When'd you bring her home?"

"Yesterday they said after a week, she was born last Monday, June 20th. Which is actually 2 days after Paul's birthday and also now the day after our wedding anniversary," I said smiling at Paul I knew he hadn't noticed that either until now. We'd been so caught up in Mary we'd forgot we got married just a day before she was born.

"Wow, well that's 3 special days," Lisa said as Dr. Schick's door opened and someone walked out of it. "You can go in now, Dani," Paul picked Mary's carrier up as he took my hand with his other, I missed holding hands with him. We walked into Dr. Schick's office, she looked up from her desk.

"Danielle.. oh my god, you had the baby! Is this Paul? Oh my god.." Dr. Schick got up from her desk obviously surprised. "Hi, I'm Dr. Schick.. I know you must be Paul, Danielle tells me a lot about you,"  I smiled at Paul as he blushed a little.

"Yeah, I'm Paul," He smiled tiredly as we sat on the couch.

"I was not expecting you to have the baby already, wow. When did you have her?" Dr. Schick asked looking down at Mary. I looked down at her too she looked so calm sucking on her pacifier.

"June 20th the day after we got married, we just brought her home yesterday," I said leaning my head on Paul's shoulder.

"Wow, a month early.. but she's okay.. like she's healthy right?" Dr. Schick asked as Mary opened her eyes and looked up at us. Paul picked her up and just held her in his arms.

"Yeah she's fine.. I guess she just wanted to come out early," I laughed as Paul looked down at Mary.

"So, Paul.. like I said before I've heard a lot about you from Danielle. You've been with her through everything haven't you?" She asked Paul, he nodded. "With her brother, her mother just everything, right? And now you two have a beautiful baby... girl, you wanted a girl right Paul?"

"Yeah.. yeah I really did and she's perfect," He said smiling down at Mary. "She's my girl.. along with Dani.. they're both perfect. I just love them both so much, they're my world," I smiled up at Paul with tears in my eyes. He looked down at me with a look in his eyes like he was trying to tell me something. It looked like from what I could tell.. 'I love you'.

"Okay, I'll be back in a little while.. John, George and my brother are watching Mary. Try to get some rest, don't worry," Paul said kissing my head as I got in bed. "I love love love you, darling... so much,"  He kissed me long and hard neither of us wanting to pull away.

"I love you too, babe... but will you stay a little longer with me?" I asked as our lips parted and I pulled him into the bed with me. He started to kiss up and down me neck making me want him even more. I started to pull his shirt of as he kissed me again.

We layed naked in bed, breathing heavy and sweaty. I pulled his head on to my chest, stroked his wet, messy hair. He looked up at me with his eyes full of love and lust. I kissed his forehead and he laughed a little.

"That was.. that was just.." He whispered a little out of breath, I smiled down at him. "Amazing, love.." He put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. "I'm going to stay with you.. the job can wait until tomorrow, I need to be with you today,"

"I really love you, Paul.." I said putting my hand on his bare back. I closed my eyes feeling myself ready to drift to sleep.

"I can tell," He said as I felt him close his eyes too. I just smiled as we both fell asleep.

A few weeks went by and before we knew it, it was the end of July. Mary was growing good and Paul had gotten a job at the grocery my mom used to work at. I woke up the morning of July 31 - which was my due date - and saw Paul wasn't next to me I looked up and saw he was at Mary's crib.

"What's wrong?" I asked getting out of bed and walking over to Mary's crib to Paul. He turned to me when I got there.

"I don't know.. she's been coughing all morning, she won't take her bottle, she has a fever. Now she's not breathing right, Dan.. I don't know what to do, maybe we should take her to the hospital," Paul said with tears in his eyes he looked horrible, I just hugged him.

"Yeah... maybe we should.. don't worry everything's going to be okay," I said rubbing his back, he got her out of the crib she started coughing really bad into his chest. She started to cry, Paul just held her close to him.

"It's going to be okay, Mary Love," Paul whisepred in her ear, she just kept crying. That was the first time I'd heard him call her by her full name. I grabbed the diaper bag and walked out the bedroom door. We ran down the stairs, John was in the living room he looked at us weird.

"What's wrong?" He asked getting up from the couch. We opened the door and ran out it.

"Mary's sick we're taking her to the hospital.. we'll let you know how she is later," I said getting in the car. Paul strapped Mary into her car seat carrier.

"Okay, I hope she's alright!" He said calling as we pulled out of the driveway. We drove down to the hospital in an eerie silence, the only sound was Mary's off breathing in the back seat. I looked over at Paul he had worry and saddness all over his face. I took his one hand that wasn't on the wheel.

"It's going to be okay, Paul.. I'm worried too but she's going to be okay," I whispered as tears fell from both of our eyes. We pulled into the hospital emergency room parking lot. Got out and in the emergency room as fast as we could.

"Excuse me.. um.. my daughter has been sick all morning and not breathing right.. she has a fever, she's been coughing," Paul said frantically as we walked in and went up to the desk.

"They'll be someone with you in a few minutes take a seat," The woman as the desk said, Paul nodded unsettled. We sat down in 2 seats far away from everyone else. I held on to Paul's one hand as he held Mary with his other. I leaned my head on his shoulder, I could feel him breathing heavy from nervousness.
