Nine months later Talbot and Hannah had a son born to them. They bequeathed their first born son the names Benjamin Chamberlain Talbot.
Their island had become that much more precious to them, that is where their first born had been conceived and subsequently born.
They named their island "Elmshurst Island" after Captain Elmshurst, who had been so generous to Talbot.
They named their house "Talbot Treasure".
On the rock mass Talbot had arranged for two enormous bronze plaques to be mounted on the rock-face, one facing the sea and one facing in the cove. The two plaques read the same.
The Cospatrick
At the helm
Captain Isaac Elmshurst
Faithful to the end,
both ship and Captain
474 brave souls lost
nevermore forgotten
2 souls saved
Hannah Chamberlain
First-Mate, Hezekiah Isaiah TalbotOn each bronze plaque Talbot had a very large replica of the Cospatrick carved in relief, a method of carving, in which the design of the ship stood out from the surface just above the inscription. To remain there until the end of time.
As for Henry, he had been given additional responsibilities to manage their businesses as well as the estates. He had proven his loyalty to Chamberlain-Talbot enterprises and estates many times over.
Talbot gave up his career at sea to concentrate on the many prosperous businesses that Benjamin had left them. They did traveled to their island by ship many times each year and enjoyed extended stays.
Their island would become their legacy.
All their six children sat at their feet on the verandah, time and time again, as Talbot told the story over and over of how he and their mother met. Then Hannah took her turn to tell Talbot's children about how their father was the bravest man that ever lived. She recounted all the things that he had done, including saving her from death near the falls. She loved telling the story without embellishment of all Talbot did for their survival on the island.
The children wanted to hear about their rescue and the hot air balloon again and again. Then the children would all cry out begging to hear the story how Talbot secretly had come back to build this house for Hannah on 'their' island. When Hannah told them how she was kidnapped they all broke into hysterical laughter as they knew the outcome.
More laughter came from the children when Hannah and Talbot started arguing about 'whom' served 'whom' more and better. Giving the other all the credit for the other's survival.
Talbot looked over his family with the greatest of satisfaction, their beautiful children, as they were all entranced with 'their' story, his beautiful wife, as she recounted all the details of 'their' story.
His eyes then went to the beach before them and the glorious greeny-blue water in the cove, the huge boulders that God scattered around the cove which barred the sea and protected them from storm.
The rock-mass that the ship landed on that saved them.
The plaque that forever extolled the lives one and all of those that braved the storm that night.
Then he looked up to the heavens at all the constant, faithful, twinkling stars that entertained them all the days they were stranded there.
He then thanked God for his mercies...............
......for Talbot had been truly blessed.
