"Dev get up we're going to be late again!" Ugh why couldn't Sam just leave me alone I love my sleep.
"Sam, Stop I am sleeping." I mumbled as I pulled the pillow over my face.
"Well you can sleep in class lets go I so don't want detention again." She has a point there.
"Alright Sam I'm up." I sat up and went straight to my closet while Sam started talking.
"I knew you would be late again so I asked Zack to run to McDonalds and get you your favorite mocha carmel latte." I smiled.
"Have I told you Lately how much I love you and Zack?" I picked out a pair of black skinny jeans a white tank and a tight vest. Pulling on my ass kicking boots I took a look in the mirror and pulled my hair out of the bun I had slept with it in, giving it a wind blown look. I rimmed my eyes in black eyeliner and blue mascarra, hey dont judge me. I walked out of my closet and grabbed the latte that Sam was holding for me.
"Ready to rule the school?" I say smiling sweetly at her. Her equally sweet smile greeted mine. "Babe that's how we roll!" We both laughed as we walked to my car. "So I over heard our parents talking last night." Sam started gently.
"Oh boy, that does not sound promising. Wait wasn't last night the Alpha and Beta meeting that's why we couldnt be there." I stated not that I really cared. "Duh, Dev that's why I simply 'over heard'." Sam said laughing. I shook my head at her. She used to be so shy, what sort of monster have I created? "Okay so what did you Simply over hear?" I asked in a mocking tone and sipping my latte bummer the whipped cream had already melted. I made a face. "My whipped cream is melted." I pouted and Sam laughed. "Should have woken up on time Dev; but we are going to have a new pack member. Well a whole family, they just moved here from the lower peninsula. Actually I think it was the same town you moved back here from when your dad got offered the Alpha position." I took my eyes from the road and stared at her. "Whoa whoa Devon watch the road!" I slowly moved my eyes back to the road. My Dad and Mom had moved from the pack house when my Brother Levi and I were just babies. We moved all the way to the small town of Marshall, Michigan when my Uncle Jake took up the Alpha position then when he had stepped in a trap and been shot mistaken for a real wolf My dad was the next in line. We moved back up north when I was ten. We knew that there were other Werewolves in Marshall but not for long most were just passerby's, but there was one other family, My best friends. It hurt like hell when we moved My wolf did not like it at all. Was that the family that was joining the pack? I felt my wolf smile at the small hope I was allowing myself to feel. "Devon are you even listening to me?" I looked over at Sam. "Sorry you said that and I went back to thinking about my life in Marshall good god is it hard for a wolf to live there permanently. So what did you say?" She smiled at me. "I said My wolf has been super restless whenever we're at the pack house and I think my mate is there but I just haven't come face to face with him yet." I looked at her shocked as I pulled into the parking place at the school lot. "But who could that even be? all the teens are at school and we see them constantly so if you think about it it would have to be one of the wolves that are constantly running patrols." I reached in the cup holder and grabbed my latte as we started towards the school, I knew the final bell had rang so we were most defiantly late. Nothing new for me. "I have thought of that, so I am going to ask my Dad if I can go on patrols tonight." I laughed Sam's Dad was the Beta of the pack. "Fat chance of that Sam all though you might just get your wish cause we are late hello detention!" I said with mock enjoyment. Sam just sighed under her breath. "Lets get to class. I can already hear the lecture now." I rolled my eyes at Sam. "I am so ready to let my snide comments fly!" I said as she opened our history classroom's door.
"Ladies I trust that you have a good reason to be late to my class today?" Mrs. Smith said looking down her nose at us I knew she had to be jealous cause we were hot and well she was so not. "Of course ma'am." Sam started. "My bed just wouldn't let me go I swear I heard it sing 'Baby it's cold outside." I smiled innocently at her. I seen Sam try and stifle a giggle and fail along with some of the class. "Devon must we go through this every morning?" The teacher said. I looked at my latte and at my watch. "Well you know I went through all the motions of getting my coffee and rehearsing my lines like any good comedian would do." Sam sighed. "Dev, All good comedians use improvisation." I clutched my chest acting wounded. "Sam, are you saying I'm not funny?" Sam grabbed for me in a apologetic gesture. "No no thats not it at all your great and all but, well you have nothing on Fluffy." I wiped a fake tear from my face. "I can't even measure up to my best friends favorite comedian that hurts." I smiled and gave a small bow to the class. Mrs. Smith was tapping her foot impatiently. "Alright Ladies if your finished you know the deal one hour detention after school. Take your seats please. " She said very snotty might I add. "Well since you ask so nicely." I said as Sam and I made our way to our seats in the back. Mrs. Smith went on with her lesson something about imperialism I really wasn't paying attention. "Devon could you please tell me what Imperialism is?" I sighed she does this everyday. "You mean like the butter with the crown on it; Because personally I prefer I can't believe it's not butter. It taste amazing and hello have you seen the commercials with those hot guys in them?" Mrs. Smith gave me a pointed look. "Devon why do you feel learning is not important, you'll never have a good job without an education." here we go again. "I do believe that learning is important and honestly it's only your class I zone out in, I mean History at 8 am? What type of torture is that? Also maybe if you made your lectures and assignments more I dont know fun I would take a better measure of interest in it." sighing the teacher replied. "Devon I dont know why you even bother showing up anymore." I smiled sweetly at her. "Me either I should have listened to my bed at least I would be warm." Sam smacked the back of my head lightly I could tell she would want me home when her dad started yelling at her about detention. "Fine I am sorry Mrs. Smith I was only giving constructive criticism and I will try to pay better attention and be on time for your class tomorrow." I apologized as the bell rang. The rest of the day had passed by quickly and I was looking forward to being home, that is after I served my hour in detention. Sam met me by my locker when the final bell rang. "I know who is holding detention today." She said as her face scrunched up. Oh boy. "And whoever might this lucky soul be?" I asked sarcastically. "Its Jax." Oh shit, Sam was defiantly in trouble. My dad was used to my behavior and even found it humorous unlike Sam's Dad and Jax was one of our fighters and also Sam's older brother. "Do you think he has already told your dad?" Sam nodded sadly. "Hopefully all the yelling gets done before the new family arrives." I nodded in agreement, the last thing a new family to our pack needed to witness on their first day here was the anger of our Beta. "I'm sorry I have turned you into such a rebel." I said honestly not sorry at all. "Hey I wouldnt have it any other way. Now lets go before Jax trys to tell dad that I am skipping my punishment." I slammed my locker. "Hey don't worry Jax is an ass." I said as we rounded the corner and into the detention room. "You better watch your mouth when your talking to your future Beta." Jax said when he seen me. "You better watch your mouth when your speaking to the daughter of the Alpha." I smirked at him. "It's fine you know, Because Levi has all the power." "Jax your such a prick I have equal power to Levi and He doesnt even like you. He can choose anyone to be Beta when he becomes Alpha." Jax apparently hurt by the truth stalked to the teachers desk and sat. making it clear to Sam and I that we were not allowed to talk. Yet he let the other students talk. I felt sorry for Sam. Hell I felt sorry for myself he still lives in the pack house. He hasnt even found his mate, maybe if he did he wouldn't be a prick anymore. And I tell you I am not exaggerating any when I say that was the longest hour of my life.
