Chapter 3

Rylan's POV

"Rylan?" I heard my name from behind me and turned. Oh. My. God. "Dev!" Without thinking we launched ourselves at each other in a tight hug the tingles going through my body felt like a live wire. "Mate." We said at the same time. "I Knew it!" Our mothers yelled at the same time. Devon pulled away but let me keep her under my arm. "Well as daughter of the Alpha let me make introductions. You know Levi, my mom and Dad. This is John Stone our Beta and his wife Jenny their daughter and my best friend Sam and their son...Jax. Mr. and Mrs. Stone Sam...Jax these are the Taylors' Matt and Steph and their children Rylan, Jace and Layla and Layla let me just say I love your hair now is it natural?" I seen Layla smile. She and Dev have always gotten along. "Yeah I thought that as I grew it would end up like Rylan's, but lets face it mines prettier." Everyone laughed. "Alright guys Matt has agreed to become part of the pack which you all know but what we have not told you is he is going to be my third in command." After all the cheering was done the one boy Jax exploded. "What?" Mr. Johnson's jaw clenched. "Jax do you have a problem?" Jax glared at the Alpha. Surely being in the Beta's Family he knew better than to challenge an Alpha? "I thought I was being given that position as training to be the new Beta!" Jax yelled at Mr. Johnson. Devon clutched my hand. Mr. Johnson seemed to grow in size right in front of everyone's eyes. "Jax it is not wise of you to assume you will automatically get the position of Beta, Because once I hand it to my Son it will be his choice of his Beta and Gamma. Is that understood. As for Matt getting the position he is better than you he is more reliable than you! Werewolves stick together but you can't even try and cover for your sister so she isn't punished I knew they'd get Detention today that's why I pulled you and told you you would be over seeing the detention to see if you would trade on your sister for your own Ass! Do I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?" Jax actually turned his back on the Alpha I knew I was one of the people who gasped Devon smirked. "Dad what do you plan to do about this?" Jax demanded of the Beta Mr. Johnson growled. "Jax. Charlie is right. I knew about his plan to send you in as the over seeing adult for todays detention I can not believe you willingly tried to betray your sister. Frankly son you will never be Beta, Levi is smart enough to not choose you." Jax's face was red. "What did I tell you earlier Jax, it's okay to admit that I was right and you were what was it called. Um wrong." Devon said as Sam giggled. Jax was up in Devon's face towering over her at what looked to be 6'1 I knew from the past not to interfere unless needed. "Do you ever shut the hell up?" Dev just smirked. "Not when I can brag." Sam then smiled. "And now you are defiantly lower ranking, how does it feel Brother." Jax pushed Sam I heard a growl in the room. Before I could stop her Devon had pushed Jax into the wall at the side of the kitchen. "Listen here Do not touch her. Or I will personally beat you is this understood?" Devon's voice had taken on an Alpha quality. She was stunning. When Devon let him free he did something none of us seen coming and not many of us had time to react by time I had regestured that he had punched Devon I felt my Dad wrap his arms around me to keep me back. "He just hit my mate! Let me go!" I roared as Levi and Jace also started restraining me. I don't get angry often but when I do you don't want to be around me. I noticed that the Beta what was his name? James, Jerry..John! John had Jax held down as My mom Layla Sam and Mr. Johnson helped Devon up and put an ice pack on her cheek. Cutting off my view was Mr. Johnson's face. "Rylan listen I want you to calm down, yes she is your mate and she is fine. Calm." I tried listening to his words. They just were not working. "Dad let me, Rylan, hey calm down I am fine. shh calm." Soon I was back to myself my wolf no longer in control. I turned to Mr. Johnson. "Mr. Johnson I am so sorry. I didn't mean for my wolf to get so out of control." He smiled at me. "I am glad, you are a perfect mate for my Devon." I smiled as she hugged me. "Layla! Your her!" Levi shouted grabbing her up in a hug spinning her around. "She'll make a great Luna." Devon said. "And an even better sister-in-law." Needless to say our parents were very happy. "I hate to break up this fest, but what are we going to do about our son?" The lady I thinks name was Jenny said. She looked pointedly at her son and slapped him across the back of the face. "Jax how stupid can you be? Just because you don't get your way? You insult an Alpha, Assault his daughter. Above all you are willing to betray your own kind! Your own sister." His mom yelled. She looked to Mr. Johnson. "Jax I can only speak for myself I was willing to over look the fact that you insulted me but Betrayal and assaulting my child and your sister I can not over look. John your a dear friend of mine and my Beta what do you suppose we do?" John sighed. "Each of Jax's acts are punishable by death and he has committed three. However he is still my son. I recommend that he is simply kicked out of our pack." Mr. Johnson Nodded and looked to Devon. "What do you think Dev?" She sighed. "I don't think. I can't stand his superior attitude and I hate his betrayal for this pack and his own sister," She stopped for a minute. "I feel however that kicking him out of the pack is to big of a risk." Levi getting into his own Alpha mode stepped up. "What do you mean Dev?" Everyone was now looking at Devon but she kept her eyes trained on Jax. "By kicking him out he has a choice, to either become one with another pack or to become rogue either way he will want revenge and possibly start a war or attack on his own." Jax growled at Devon and tried to break his father's hold on him. In return Sam, Mr. Johnson, myself and a few others growled at him. "You make a good point sister, so what would you do?" Devon shook her head. "I am not Alpha I can not decide on this I also feel that it is wrong for me to decide on anyone's fate but my own." Mr. Johnson sighed. "Dev I know you are great at insight which is why you would make a great Alpha were you a boy. Levi and Myself however are asking your input so please quit tiptoeing around the matter at hand if you were in our position which is to decide Jax's fate might I add. What would you do?" Devon hung her head. I could tell she was afraid of what her friend would say. "I would kill him I would order him punishable by death. Just because he is the son of the Beta does not mean special treatment like John has suggested. However I believe it only fair that we put it to a vote with the rest of our pack. Therefor what I would do is lock him in our jail and drug him with wolfs-bane until a trail could be held." Sam spoke up then. "Devon I like your first option. I hadn't realized today that what he was doing is betrayal. Alpha may I make an announcement to the pack? If you decide to go with Dev's wise idea." Mr. Johnson looked at Sam then his Beta. "Devon is very wise for her age and I feel like what she has said has a lot of merit to it. As for the fact that Sam would like to speak at the hearing I will go with Devon's suggestion. Sam may I ask what you would like to announce?" Sam stood taller. "I want to bring forth some information I found Jax hiding, might I say I wouldn't have thought nothing of it if I hadn't become best friends with Devon. So see Dad Dev is a great influence even if she is a jokester?" Sam finished with a smirk. "Very well. Levi please get me two viles of wolf-bane and a needle. John, Matt and Jenny please hold Jax down. Girls no patrol tonight however would you and Kate take the Taylors' to their Cabin and show them around?" "Of course everyone who was Addressed answered. "Um, Would you guys wait here for a moment I need to talk to my Mom and Sam." Devon said once we went to the porch. My Mother nodded as she ran back into the house. "So Devon's your mate huh?" Jace said pushing me. I pushed him back "Yes," I smiled. "And our sister will be Luna someday." Layla smacked the back of my head. I could tell she didn't want the spotlight on her. "Okay everything is all set." Devon came outside with a mischievous smile plastered on her and Sam's face. Oh no I know that smile well. Suddenly Sam and Jace gasped at the same time saying "it was you?" They pointed at each other and their eyes were wide. Devon burst out laughing taking the attention that was focused on Sam and Jace. When she realized everyone was staring at her she sobered up and smiled. "Oh sorry but you two looked like something out of a cartoon I swear oh my god that was too funny, Funnier than our skit in history today Sam." Everyone cocked their heads in question. Jace was the first to speak. "Skit in history? Aren't skits usually saved for Drama?" Sam and Devon looked at each other and laughed. "Oh man you guys have to stick with us at school you'll love it!" Devon declared. "Yeah as long as you can get us to school on time." Sam shot back. "Hey Me making us late gives a great atmosphere for our comedy!" Sam and Dev laughed again. "But I just dont get it I thought my mate was somewhere in the house?" Sam said taking it back to the original problem. "I dont know I knew my mate was here I just couldnt tell until we were closer." Jace said. Everyone shrugged puzzled. Then Mrs. Johnson spoke. "Well I am so glad you guys are here now I know my Family has missed you guys so much so how about we show you your cabin and then you can get settled in later." With that we followed our Luna into the woods as the late afternoon sun shown down on us.
