"Devon come on, squeeze my hand. Please or Rylan's he has your other hand." That was Sam and Rylan had my other hand? Did that mean that Sam had one of my hands? Why can't I feel them? Where is my voice? Why is it so dark? All good questions to which I had no answers. I must be dreaming. Willing myself to open my eyes or to move my hands. Nothing; nothing but blackness. I felt so cold. "Mr. Johnson its been two days." Was that Jace. My dad too? He started talking but everything faded into the nothingness I was in.

Rylan's POV

Sam tried talking to her again. Nothing Two days of nothing. Her Dad has just left as the doctor came in. "Listen, I am tired of this. I feel as if I am the one to blame. My best friend is laying here comatose because of me." Sam Growled out at Jace and I. "Don't even say it again Sam. You did not do this to Dev. Your dad did. How are you holding up with their deaths? " Jace said; ever since the day John pulled the trigger on Devon Sam has been blaming herself. "How can you even ask me that? I hope they all rot in hell; Devon is all I care about right now. Because of me she is in here like this." Sam hit the chair arm with the hand that wasn't holding Devon's. "Sam, don't blame yourself. Your quick thinking is what saved her life. She is lucky to have you. She will wake up when the wolfesbane is gone from her body; and when her body is ready." Sam threw a glare at the doctor. "All I did was pull the bullet out and hold a strip of fabric to the wound." Sam spit out. "Yeah Sam and by doing that we were still able to tell John had soaked them with wolfesbane in the first place." I pointed out. "And you stopped a lot of the bleeding." Jace added in. "You didnt even get squeamish by taking the bullet out." The doctor added. "So I saved her life; what are best friends for? But if I had told Mr. Johnson sooner none of this would have happened. Devon would be in Mrs. Smiths' class making some remark about History." Sadness sank into Sam's voice slowly. Jace embraced Sam letting her cry on him. If only I could do that with Devon right now. Oh I'm sure I will. But not right now. No Devon was laying comatose by my side. Thank the goddess that Charlie had killed the bastard. I squeezed Devon's Hand softly willing her eyes to flutter open. Nothing. Something was telling me that Sam was not going to stop blaming herself. It was gonna take Devon telling her. One thing I knew for sure was that when Devon did wake up she is going to be pissed when she finds out that she wont get the chance to kill John herself. Levi hadn't been here since she's been here. He can't stand seeing her this way. Who could judge him? She's his little sister. Her Mom and Dad stay here at night along with my parents and sister. Damn it how much wolfesbane did that ass use? I kissed her forehead and got up and left. My wolf wanted out. I took a running start and leaped landing on four legs instead of two. My wolf howled the saddest song I have ever heard.

~DevonsPOV~~

I heard the saddest song of the wolf; my mate. Rylan. Why was he so sad and damn it was I late for school again? Why hadn't Sam come in to wake me up again. Sighing I shifted into a sitting postion. Why the hell was I in a open field? "Hello?" I called out. No answer this must be a dream. "No sweetie it isn't, this is the between." I looked to my right again and here stood a women she was gorgeous. Her hair as dark as night and eyes white like the moon. The moon? Holy hell She is the Moon Goddess; My dad has a painting of her hung high on the wall of the packs' meeting room. "The Between?" I asked. My voice echoed. "Yes Daughter The Between; it's many different things. Haven't you read about it?" Looking around again the place changed we were sitting by a waterfall. "This is where those who have died go, to wait on where you'll send them. Werewolves I mean." She gave me a kind smile. "Am I dead?" I looked deep into her white eyes. "No dear Devon you are most certainly not. Nor will you be anytime soon. I am here to tell you that you are very strong and you need to believe in yourself more. Don't ever let your anger go. you may need it." I filed away her words for later speculations. "What happened to me? Why am I here if I am not dead?" Her smile never wavered. "You my dear were shot while sticking up for your family and friends. For saving your pack. I wish more were like you. I did not create my children to hurt nor be unfaithful. My children were created to be loving, giving, loyal and courageous." Her smooth hand landed on top of mine. "Where any others hurt?" I closed my eyes praying that no one got hurt. "No dear they didn't you were the only one. Samantha is taking it really hard; she's blaming herself." I sighed. "It's not her fault. I imagine that I will be the only one who can convince her differently."
"You are right about that one, Though I sense that you have another question for me. One about Samantha."
"Yeah, Is she you know...The one with the Choice and Chance mates?" Maybe this will make everything easier for me.
"That will be revealed soon, not tonight." I looked back to her.
"But we need to be prepared. She's already found her Mate."
"Ah yes Jace, He is a lovely young wolf, She will be better off with him." The goddess winked at me. I exhaled.
"There's something bad coming isn't there?"
"Yes my dear, I can not wait to see how you have your pack's back, Remember you have been touched by the Goddess." She leaned over and touched me. Then I was falling fast. Everything stopped, My eyes opened. Touched by the goddess? What could that mean? It took a minute to get my bearings I was seeing the white ceiling of the infirmary. I ached from head to toe and took a deep breath. I heard three people gasp. "Devon! Your awake." Sam squeezed my hand harder. "Sam." I gasped as it hurt. My throat felt like sandpaper. "I need water and pain killers." I gasped again. "Jace go get the doctor and Rylan." Sam said tears rolling down her face. "Dev. Don't you ever scare your Mother and me like that again!" My dad said his voice thick with emotion he never showed. Minutes later the doctor came running in along with Rylan and Levi. I never thought seeing my brother could be so heart warming. sucking in a deep breath I winced at the pain. "I'm okay." I assured them as they all started looking for somewhere to pat to make sure that I was okay.
