Chapter 2

"Samantha Lee Stone!" Her Dad roared as we walked in the door. "Why did you have detention today?" I smiled at the Beta innocently.
"If I may interject Mr. Stone its my fault Sam and I both had detention. I woke up late today." Mr. Stone looked at me. "Devon when do you ever wake up on time." He relented and smiled at Sam and I. "Only when my bed doesn't sing to me." Sam giggled. "Alright Sam don't let this happen again or you'll be put on cleaning commission." We both gasped that was the worse. "But My dad would never allow it." I said looking into my fathers eyes with my best puppy dog face. "Sorry Dev, but school has only been in session for a month and you have had detention for three weeks out of four. I agree with John on this." Sam and I both starred at our fathers with wide eyes what the hell? "Dad Can Dev and I have permission to be put on patrols tonight?" We smiled sweetly at them. "I don't think that's a good idea Sam; patrols could get dangerous you know this." We frowned and turned towards my dad he could technically overrule what John just said. "Dad please I think it would be a good experience for Sam and I both. also it would probably wear me out meaning I will go to bed early which would lead to the fact that I will wake up on time tomorrow regardless if my bed is singing to me or not." My dad was weighing every word I said carefully. "I dont see the harm in it; John but girls only for a hour and you have to take the new teens from the family with you when they get here. I expect you two to be nice to them. got it." I smiled and Sam and I hugged my dad. "Wait dad did you say a new family?" My father chuckled. "Dont you dare act surprised for one minute Devon, I know Sam was spying on the meeting last night and I know she told you." Sam and I ducked our heads guiltily.

Rylan's POV
The drive was taking forever. Ever since Dev had left seven years ago my wolf was empty. When My mom told us that Dad had been asked to join the pack up north I was happy, It's not easy for wolves to live in Marshall. It bugged the hell out of me that I couldnt remember where Dev said she was moving to, but I remembered her saying it was still in the state of Michigan. Would she be in this new pack? I hoped so. She was my best friend. "Jace you better remember your manners when meeting the Alpha and Beta and their Families." Jace my annoying twin brother. He made me mad as a kid he knew I had a crush on Dev and Jace tried his hardest to get between us. "Yeah yeah mom I know this is an important time in all of our lifes, Rylan and I might even meet our mates." Jace was previously in so much trouble with the Law in Marshall he could be considered a fugitive for making this move. My dad had talked to the Alpha about it and he said it would be fine. My parents were being very secretive about who the Alpha was and it was highly irritating. I wondered if this was the pack that Dev had moved to again I bet her brother Levi and Jace would pick up their friendship where it left off. "Mom you remember the family we were friends with when they lived in Marshall?" My little sister Layla asked. "Of course dear, your brothers, Devon and Levi were inseparable. What about them?" Layla let out a breath. "It would be nice to know at least one family you know?" I knew she was thinking of Levi. Layla had always had a crush on him but he wouldn't pay much attention to her because we he was eleven and she was eight at the time. She had just turned 16 a week ago. I think she was hoping Levi would be there and her mate. Not to say I wasn't thinking the same about Dev. "Matt I can't keep it from them any longer can I tell them?" Our mom asked Dad as he signaled to pull onto an unpaved drive. "Now now Steph you cant do that it's against our new Alpha's orders." Our dad said laughing. I just rolled my eyes at them. They still acted like teenagers if Jace wasn't getting into trouble. I could hear the voices inside a house about two miles away were we here? Is this just a really long driveway? "Are we here?" I speak up. "We are its kind of a long driveway, but the privacy is something spectacular." I smiled at my dads choice of words. "And the scenery look at it." My mom piped up. For the first time since leaving Marshall I looked around at my surroundings. There were trees everywhere. Several different species of pines and spruces a few oaks and maples they were stunning. It would give my mom new topics for her passion of photography. There were birds flying high and chipmunks and squirrels it was a great scene. This would be a great place to live. I felt a smile creep to my face maybe things would be different here we would have a pack we wouldn't have the constant fear of being mistaken as rouges or the rouges that would pass by wouldn't bother us. As much. Maybe just maybe this might even be the pack that Dev had moved to. I'll bet she is even more beautiful than she was ten years ago. "Wait dad did you say new family?" A familiar voice spoke. "Dont you dare act surprised for one minute Devon, I know Sam was spying on the meeting last night and I know she told you." I smiled "Devon?" I asked. Layla smiled "Dad is it them is it the Johnsons?" Our dad chuckled. "I cant say kids." As our dad spoke a beautiful house came into view. It looked to be five stories high and just a little wider than a football field. I could see several cabins dotting through the woods this pack had to be huge. I knew that we would have our own Cabin by what our father had told us. "Kids I dont know what cabin the Alpha has planned for us but it will be four bed two bath." I recalled my dad saying when Layla asked if we would be living in the pack house. She didn't like the idea of living in a pack house Mom had reassured her that it was because we had lived so long on our own. Dad had put the car in park. Time to meet our new Alpha and Beta. We stepped out of the car and walked up to the porch it appeared to be one of those old timey wrap around porches. Our Dad knocked on the door. It opened about a minute later. "Matt I am so glad you wanted to join my pack!" I can't believe my eyes that is Dev's Dad! Mr. Johnson! He is an Alpha? "Charlie I am glad you agreed to let us join? Long time no see, I knew that the kids would love this." Mr. Johnson laughed. "Agreed Devon and Levi don't know yet Shall you come in and see my family and meet the Beta's as well?" My mom smiled and Hugged Mr. Johnson. "Charlie we would love to! Gosh I can't wait to see Kate gosh how time flies!" My Dad and Mr. Johnson laughed at my hair brained mother. "Well come on in. Devon go get Levi and Jax please." He called over her shoulder. Devon never appeared but I heard her reply. "Oh god not Jax! Make Sam do it!" Her Dad Chuckled. "Fair enough girls go get your brothers." I heard another girls voice who I assumed was Sam. "Thanks for throwing me under the bus." Devon giggled how it sounded was amazing. "Hey and no thanks for getting us on patrol tonight? Wow I feel the love." Their voices where fading so I figured they were off to get their brothers. "Please wont you come in. I'll lead you to the kitchen and go get the Beta." My Dad nodded and followed. "I should apologize for Devon now she has become very witty in the past ten years. She keeps you on your toes. Oh and Rylan; She still uses your guy's favorite prank." Mr. Johnson Addressed me. "The sugar in the salt shaker and dirt in the pepper shaker both lids loosened." I stated while I laughed. My Parents joined in on the laughter even though they all knew that trick they fell for it every time. "Steph!" We heard a squeal as we entered the kitchen oh god the moms. They were awesome they'd help Devon and I play pranks on our dads one time they had let us draw on the windows of our Dads cars with lipstick while they rewired the cars. When they put the keys in the ignition and the radio would turn on and when they would step on the gas the window fluid and wipers would turn on and if they put the car in reverse it would actually be in drive when the brakes would be hit the car would drive. It had taken our dads four days to fix them. "Kate!" My mom launched herself into Mrs. Johnson's arms and they both burst out laughing along with the rest of us our Moms were more childish than us. "Levi wake up come on some Alpha you'll be! Get your ass up the new family is here." We all looked up to hear where the sound was coming from. "Devon shut up!" I laughed same old Levi. "Levi I swear if you do not wake." "Devon shut- Hey why did you do that that was fucking cold!" "Well if you would wake your lazy ass up come on the new family is here." "What new family?" "Gosh how are you even graduating this month the new family to the pack." "Hey don't judge my smartness your the one always getting detention!" "Only because my bed loves me!" Mr. Johnson chuckled. "My kids didnt change as you can see." Then another conversation reached our ears. "Samantha get out of my room!" "Oh shut up I am on official Alpha orders. Come downstairs to the kitchen Jax." "Oh okay I'll meet you in the hall." "Good Devon Levi come on." this was followed by the four of them running down the stairs. "Kids stop with the racket Charlie wants us all in the kitchen." We could here them walking in.
