Chapter 12

Eleanor's POV

I was reading one of my books near the Entrance courtyard. I haven't been reading for a long time since I was so busy with Quidditch and studying.

A small crowd of students began running and soon it looked like the whole school was following.

I spotted Luna, who was skipping normally to wherever the scene was.

"Luna!" I called her. She spun around and faced me.

"Hello Eleanor," she said.

"Where's everyone going?" I asked her.

"The Entrance Courtyard," she replied. Then she grabbed my wrist and pulled me with her. "Come. Let's see!"

We followed the crowd of students and made our way to the Hogwarts Entrance.

Things in Hogwarts have become much more... strange. At the beginning of the year, I had so much fun. But with Umbridge practically in charge, it's hard to to live normally. I actually start to wonder how it was like in the past years.

Most of the students were making their way to the entry hallway for some reason. I needed to find out what was going on. And I didn't think it was one of those pranks...

"El, what's going on?" Harry asked as he appeared next to me.

I tiptoed my highest and I could see Professor Trelawney carrying one of her bags. Actually, all of her things were piled on top of each other.

"Professor Trelawney..." I told him.

"Do you know what's happening?" he asked me.

I shook my head. "I think she's leaving..." I guessed.

"I've been working here for sixteen years," Professor Trelawney croaked out. "Hogwarts is my home!" A tear shred from her eye as she stifled. "Y-you can't do this...."

Umbridge held out a folded parchment with several writings on it. "Actually, I can," she said with fake kindness.

I rolled my eyes.

Professor McGonagall appeared out of a crowd of students and she walked over to the scene.

"Minerva, I..." Professor Trelawney stuttered.

Umbridge crossed her hand over the other. "Is there something you'd like to say here?" she asked McGonagall.

McGonagall wrapped her arms around the crying Professor Trelawney. "Oh, there are several things I'd like to say," she said sharply. "Here, shh, shh..." she said soothingly into Trelawney's ear.

The large door burst open and out came Professor Dumbledore. I hope he was going to save the day.

"Professor McGonagall, might I ask you to escort Sybill back inside, please?" he said to McGonagall.

She nodded her head. "Certainly."

"Oh thank you!" Trelawney said I'm relief before walking away with McGonagall.

Umbridge pursed her lips together. "Dumbledore, might I remind you that under the terms of Educational Decree Number Twenty-threesigned by the Minister himself-"

"You have the right to dismiss my teachers," Dumbledore cut her off. I nodded at him. He was right. "You do not, however, have the authority to banish them from the grounds. That power remains with the headmaster."
