Hi, apologies for the VERY late update. Life has been very chaotic.
Alex
Riding through the woods with Lucas was just what he needed. Some fresh air with the one person who he truly considered his best friend. Regardless of Lucas being labelled and known as a Playboy Prince, which wasn't true, though he was more flirtatious ones of the cousins, he was a good person. A trustworthy person.
"Will you be here until the end of the month?" Alex asked as he brought Hercules to a steady trot as a stream came into view, just a few steps to their right.
"No, why do you ask?" Asked Lucas, doing the same.
"My father's birthday is at the end of the month, and one of the eligibles will be leaving."
"I forgot about that, not uncle's birthday but the eligibles." Lucas eyebrows furrowed. "How are they being scored?"
"Madam Eunice and the Royal committee members collect points from the tasks that they do, plus how they carry themselves and treat those around them."
"Wow, they are really putting them under the microscope."
Alex let out a breath from his nose and got off his horse, "Yep. Just like how we were raised."
Lucas scoffed and hopped off his horse too. "I feel sorry for them."
"Yeah-some of them weren't raised like this." Alex let go off Hercules reign, to let him go and drink water from the stream before he sat on the truck of a tree that fell. "They were raised away from the media and cameras...the world's eyes. Just simple upbringing and now they are thrust into this world we're everything single thing they do is judged."
Sighing, Lucas went and sat down beside Alex watching his horse go and drink from the stream too.
Half an hour later, they were both back at the royal stables handing their horses over to the handlers.
"Thank you, Gregory." Alex thanked the young man who took Hercules' reigns.
"Your welcome, your Highness, and Maître Claude and Moniteur Henderick have already arrived." The young handler said and walked away with Hercules.
"Did he say Henderick?" Lucas came up to stand beside Alex while removing his gloves.
Alex nodded. "Yes."
"Great." Lucas let out sarcastically.
Alex chuckled and patted Lucas back. "Come on."
"Tell me again how he became a moniteur and why he is still in that position?" Lucas asked as they made their way up to the palace.
"He earned it."
"Did being a asshat also come with that?" Lucas sarcastically said, without a care.
"Lucas!" Scolded Alex as before he looked around to make sure that no one was in earshot.
"What?"
"Someone might hear you."
"So? I don't care." Lucas shrugged carelessly, prompting his cousin to shake his head.
