When we got to the hospital Luke opened my door and took my hand. We walked into the hospital together.
"Umm i'm here to see Sara Harrington," I said playing with Luke's fingers, looking at the woman behind the desk. She started typing things into her computer.
"Ok she is in room 214," the woman said looking up at me and smiling. A gave her a small fake smile back and walked to the elevators still holding Luke's hand, not letting go. We got in the elevator and waited for our floor. When we got to the 2nd floor, Luke and I exited the elevator and started walking down the hospital hallway. When we got to room 214 I froze in my tracks. I stared at the door.
"Hey it will be okay," Luke said. He kissed my cheek and squeezed my hand. I nodded and opened the door. I saw my mom on the hospital bed. She looked lifeless. Her body was bruised and cut. My mother was never like this, she was always full of life and spirit. It was like someone sucked the life out of her. I fell to my knees and started crying. Luke sat next to me and started rubbing small circles into my back. I rested my head on his shoulder and continued crying. I heard my moms heart monitor beep and I knew it was over. I left my body fall onto Luke's. I zoned out everything in the world. All I could hear was the faint noise of doctors talking and my moms heart monitor. I kept crying into Luke's chest. I stayed there until Luke and I were told to leave. Luke picked me up again and I kept crying. We sat down in the waiting room, me in his lap, still crying into his shoulder. I heard Luke sniffle a bit. He tightened his grip on me and kissed my cheek.
"I'm still here don't worry I won't leave," Luke whispered into my ear. That was the last thing I heard when o fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.
