Basic modes

Creative mode-The basic mode which can give you unlimited resources just by going to the resources menu by pressing E. You can hold just one block, but you can place unlimited pieces of the object as long as you are holding it. Unlimited XP. After crafting, combining, however, the block will be used. Can be activated by typing /gamemode 1 in a world which has cheats enabled. Unlimited hp too. Able to fly. Double space to fly. Space to increase altitude. Shift for down. When you reach the ground by holding shift, fly is deactivated. Double space again to deactivate fly. Can never die unless you fall into the void. Mentioned, later. Derp.

Survival mode-/gamemode 0. Basically you have 10 hearts and 10 hunger. Hearts are your hp, and the hunger is represented as drumsticks beside the hearts. "Drumsticks" can be recovered by eating food which will be mentioned later. When your hunger is 8 or higher, hp that has been lost will regenerate. Hunger can be decreased faster by certain activities like mining and sprinting. Mentioned later. Generally, your hp is lost when you get hit by mobs, drown, try to swim in lava, or fall from a higher place. Generally, a lot of causes of death. You die when all the hearts are lost. When you are in the water, a bar of 10 bubbles will appear over that of the hearts and as time passes, they pop. When all of them have popped, you start losing health. A bar of your armour you are wearing is also displayed over your hunger. It show the protection points you have. Protection points, mentioned later. When you die, all of your items are scattered all around, and when you click re spawn, you are teleported back to the place where you started, or if you have slept in a bed, you will move back to your last sleep location. If the bed is destroyed and you do not sleep anywhere else, you are reset to your starting location again.

Adventure mode-Basically survival mode but you are unable to break certain blocks like how you do. You cannot break wood with your bare hands, and cannot dig soil without a shovel. In this case it is very dangerous, as you are left with no resources. The best way is to search for NPC villages and I shall explain how it will help later. Rookies are recommended to enable bonus chests when creating a world if they plan to have an adventure world. They cannot be accessed through the create world menu so cheats HAVE TO BE ENABLED to make an adventure world. By doing /gamemode 2.

Hardcore mode-Cannot be accessed through cheats and only through the menu. Do note that cheats are automatically disabled in hardcore mode, and it is automatically be converted to hard difficulty. Mentioned in basic controls section. You also have only one life, and once you die the world is deleted.
