Just as Coral leaned in to check my heartbeat, I silently commanded the fish in the room to swirl around Coral and her men, blinding them with blurs of colour.

"What the-" Coral's men yelled, trying to push the fish away from their faces.

I jumped up, the adrenaline helping get rid of whatever had paralyzed me. I only had a few moments to escape.

My heart pounding in my chest, I pushed Coral away from me, and ran towards my best friend and sister, still bound to the chairs.

What about the force field?

My blood boiled in my veins as I felt all the anger and emotion I had build up inside me. I held my hands out in front of me, and two rapidly forming balls of water and energy came in my hands.

My face went red with excursion as I held my hands out in front of the force field. I put everything I had into breaking the force field, not caring that this might kill me.

I didn't dare glance behind me. I couldn't get distracted. I had to do this, for Heather. For Will.

Cautiously, I stepped forward, right into the force field. The two balls of water jumped out of my hands, and I watched, confused, as it formed one big ball of water around me.

I instantly realized what I was unconsciously doing. The ball of water protected me from the force field's power.

I ran forward to Heather and Will. Heather's face was hung low in defeat, not even bothering to open her eyes. But Will - oh Will - his eyes were wide open, never breaking contact from my face. He was still hopeful, trusting me to save them all.

I was more determined than I had ever been in my life. This was life or death for not just me, but two of my loved ones as well. I couldn't mess up.

I had to hurry, the fish wouldn't distract Coral and her henchmen much longer. I just needed to untie Will and Heather, and then we'd fight like hell to escape.

I went behind Will's chair first, knowing that he'd help untie Heather while I plan how to escape. Good thing they were only bound by ropes, and I untied him easily.

I looked into Will's eyes for a second, and I knew he understood what I wanted him to do. As he untied Heather, I turned around at the chaos that was behind me.

The fish were doing exactly as I told them. They refused to leave Coral and her men's faces, swirling round and round, until their captives got too dizzy to do anything.

The exit was only a few feet away from Coral and her henchmen. We just had to get past them, and somehow get out of the ocean before they caught us.

Damn, this was going to be hard.

Will had untied Heather behind me, and was convincing her to get up and get ready to run.

All of a sudden, I realized that my mother was in this very building, locked up somewhere. I couldn't just leave her behind. My heart ached with despair. I didn't know what to do.

Right now, my first priority was stopping Coral and her henchmen from coming after us. We'll have to tie them up or something.

I had to act now.

I left the force field and went into the middle of the chaos. I went straight to Coral, as if I beat her, I could make her call off her henchmen.

With the water back in my hands, I felt powerful, like I could do anything. I strolled right up to her, and blasted a wave of hard cold water in her face. She fell back and tried to defend herself.

I felt all the betrayal and lies Coral had said to me, and allowed those emotions to enhance my powers.

I was merciless. I was powerful. For once, I was in control.

I kept the harsh wave of water on Coral, hoping to hurt her. She deserved to feel pain, for all the pain she caused me.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Will sneak up on one of the henchmen, while he was distracted, and kicked him as hard as he could in the shin from behind. The henchman fell down, grabbing his leg in pain. Will quickly grabbed his sword that he dropped.

"Aha!" Will cried in satisfaction. He spun around and grinned at me, before rushing to another henchman, and started attacking him.

I brought my eyes back to Coral, who suddenly didn't look too defenseless and vulnerable anymore.

Maybe she finally realized she was also a daughter of the sea. A much more skilled one.

She pushed against my ball of water with one of her own. My freezing cold ball of water was met with her burning hot one. I panicked; it would hurt way more to be drenched in burning hot water. I couldn't let her win.

But I was just a new daughter of the sea. She was one for years. She knew better than anyone how to control and use powers.

I cried out in despair as the burning hot water seared my skin. I screamed and screamed, until my throat felt raw. My eyes widened at my skin, quickly getting burned. I tried to use my powers, but I was too distracted at the excruciating pain to defend myself.

I shut my eyes, trying to block out the pain and focus on my powers. I moaned out loud. I couldn't do it. Opening my eyes, I tried to plead with Coral.

"Stop! Please." I begged, not caring how pathetic I sounded. Coral just laughed mercilessly, and stepped closer.

"Now you listen closely. Finish the poem, or I burn you alive." Coral sneered, and I thought about my mother. She was in the building. Could she help me somehow? It was like Coral read my mind. "Don't even think about your mother. She's locked up safe and sound. But don't worry. I won't kill her. Yet."

Yet? What does that mean? Why would she wait? A memory flashed before me eyes. It was when I had first met Coral, and she told me about daughters of the sea, and my mother.

"The gold around your eyes represents the power your mother gave to you. After she sent you the dream, she knew that you were going to need some help to help change your destiny. By giving you her strength and agility, because she no longer needs it anymore, you are now twice as powerful as you used to be. That's why you easily beat me in our fight this morning." Coral explained.

"So I have my mom's power too?" Coral nodded, "And my eyes changed because of that. What about other people with gold ringed eyes? It's not that rare, you know."

"Every daughter of the sea can transfer their power to someone, if they choose. It could be their family, a friend or anyone really. But it has to be a girl, hence the name 'daughters of the sea'. Boys with gold eyes are just that, boys with gold eyes."

I nodded, taking in all of the new information as best as I could. It was hard to believe my life could change so quickly. "What does this all mean, though? And how did my mother know about how I died?"

Coral took a deep breath. "Your mother knew because she's the one that's going to kill you."

My eyes widened in realization. Once I said the poem, my destiny would come true, and my mother would kill me. That's why they wanted me to finish it. If I didn't finish it, I could still have a chance to change my destiny.

One problem though: I was still defenseless under the burning water.

Will was too busy fighting off the henchmen, and Heather was-. Where was Heather? Ever since Will untied her, she was no where to be seen. My heart leapt in my throat; I couldn't lose her again.

Just as I was about to yell out her name, the burning water stopped and I looked up in confusion to see Heather tackle Coral, knocking her to the ground.
