Chapter 3
I woke up to my phone ringing, It was Kevin. I picked it up, it was 9:30am I kicked my covers off of me and answered the call. “Hey Kev”
“Hey babe, did you just wake up you sound a little rushed.”
“Yeah, I must’ve forgotten to set my alarm clock”
“were you too busy thinking about our future?”
Kevin sounded excited.
“Yeah something like that.” I said a lot less enthusiastically.”Listen, I’m going to be late for work so can I…”
“Work? Rhea it’s Sunday.” I stopped in my tracks and gave my phone another look Kevin was right. I laughed and plopped down in my bed.
“Gosh, what would I do without you?”
He laughed on the other line, I loved his laugh. I smiled.
“I was calling to see if we were going to bike ride to church today.”
Kevin and I always rode our bikes to church on Sundays, he liked lowering his carbon footprint and I’ve always really loved the exercise.
“Yeah, sure can we hit the beach after church? It’s a nice day and I would love a smoothie.” I said, stretching the O in love.
“Sure” he responded. “I’ll be at your house in twenty minutes ok?”
“Alright babe, see you soon.”
I hung up the phone and headed to my closet to find something to wear. I pulled out my long white dress; I looked in front of the mirror and held the dress up. I almost dropped it! I looked too much like a glowing bride, I knew it would take me a while to get used to the “getting married” thing. But I didn’t think I’d be this freaked out! I pulled out my short sundress and my biking shorts, I picked out some gorgeous sandals and went to shower. I hung my clothes up and turned the water on and hopped in the shower, I let the water run over me, my hair began to coil up. I lathered up with my favorite body wash . morning citrus scent. I stared at my bath caddy, I was organized, color coded and clean. I imagined Kevins caddy, what it would look like, shaving gel foam all over everything, the smell; of his manly body wash overtaking my citrus oasis. I shuddered, I wasn’t ready to share. How would my lively messy man impact my organized life? “For the better” I said outloud, I imagined his smile and his embrace. There went my doubts down the drain, again. This is love.
