Jordan's POV
I woke up the next morning, still snuggled into Tom's chest. I walked downstairs and into the kitchen to see mom drinking coffee.
She smiled. "Good morning, Jordan. How'd you sleep?" She asked, smirking. Mom must've walked into my room and seem Tom and I..
"I.. Uh, good! Yeah, I slept great. What about you?" I asked, walking over to her and siting next to her.
"I slept well. Y'know schools starting up soon?"
Don't remind me. We had freedom for almost a month. Then Mianite got tired of not having his school. I just sighed. Mom chuckled. "You got to go to school to fill your brain!" She said.
I heard Tom walking downstairs. I looked up to see him. He looked tired. Really tired. I smiled and patted the chair next to me. Tom walked over and sat down on it.
"I'm so tired right now." Tom said with a groggy voice. I chuckled. "I can tell." I said.
"Did the pod racing make you tired at all, Sparklez?" Tom asked.
I shook my head. "Kinda, but not really." I said. He sighed.
"Hey have y'all seen Guard Tom anywhere? While y'all were racing yesterday I went and knocked on his door just to check if he was home, and he didn't answer." Mom said. She sounded a bit worried.
"Tom and I can go check again if you want us to?" I offered.
"Please?" She asked. I nodded. I stood up, and grabbed Tom's arm, pulling him out the tower with me.
"Sparklez I'm still in my night clothes!" Tom said. I let go of his arm and looked at him. He was right. Tom was still in his plain grey tee, with black sweat pants. I hadn't changed either.
"You're fine. I'm still in them too." I said. I walked over to Guard Tom's tower and knocked. I waited a few minutes.
No answer.
I knocked again, a bit harder this time.
Still no answer.
I began to turn around and walk back when Tom stopped me. He had an devilish grin on his face. What is he thinking?
"Why don't we just go inside? Maybe find clues about where the hell he went?" Tom asked.
"That's basically breaking into his tower. We can get into trouble!" I whispered.
"You have to be a rebel sometimes, Sparklez." Tom said. He opened the door. Surprisingly, it wasn't locked. If I were Guard Tom I would've at least locked my door before I go off somewhere.
I walked in behind Tom, staying close to him. I'll have to admit that I was a bit freaked out. Tom always makes me feel safe.
We walked into the kitchen. Everything was dusty. Literally. Guard Tom must've been gone for a few weeks now. Tom walked over to his fridge and opened it up.
"Tom stop it! Guard Tom could come back any moment now. You never know.." I said. He laughed, shutting the fridge door. "Dude, quit being so tense. Have you ever done anything like this?" He asked.
I shook my head. "My old friends, I'll have to say, were kinda weird. They wouldn't go near the ocean." I said.
Tom looked at me weirdly.
"Why wouldn't they go near the ocean?" He questioned. I chuckled. "Hehe.. They were scared of squids." I said. Tom began to laugh.
"Squids? Are you serious?" He asked through laughter. I nodded.
"Just c'mon and let's find guard Tom!" I said. I walked past Tom and to the stairs, running up them. Tom ran behind me.
"Sorry Sparklez, it's just that I've never heard of anyone who was scared of squids." Tom said.
"It's okay." I said. He nodded then walked ahead of me, and into the bedroom.
"We could find some clues here since we found nothing in the kitchen." Tom said. I started to look around the room for clues. I opened dresser doors and looked through his closet. I didn't find anything but clothes. I walked to Tom. He was looking in the bedside table.
"I didn't find anything." I said. Tom turned around and smiled. "That's okay, because I have." He said.
He showed me a crumbled up sheet of paper. I grabbed the paper and flattened it out. There was something written on it.
Welcome.
I looked at Tom. He looked at me confused. I was confused, too.
"Who wrote the note?" Tom asked.
"I did."
I didn't have to turn around to recognize who it was. It was Nade. Of. Course.
I turned around slowly. I was startled at what I saw.
Nade was standing there, but it looked nothing like him. He wore a black, torn up hoodie. The hoodie had some sort of writing on it. I couldn't tell what it said. Nade wore grey pants that were ripped along his left leg. He was wearing black combat boots.
His skin was pale. Very pale. There was a black glow that surrounded him. I remembered him saying stuff about the shadows.
It must've been shadows surrounding him.
Creepy..
"Where is Guard Tom?" Tom asked. He stood in front of me. Was he trying to protect me?
"Oh don't worry Tommy boy. He's safe with us." Nade said.
"Who's us?" I asked. Nade looked at me, smirking. "Us as in the Shadows. Guard Tom joined us. Someone was very happy that he joined. I myself was happy." He said.
"Who?" Tom asked.
Nade looked at Tom now. "Death." Nade said. He had a weird grin.
Nade closed his eyes. I knew what was about to happen. As soon as he opened his eyes, I jumped right in front of Tom.
It was my turn to protect now.
I felt horrible pain fill my body. I fell to the ground. I couldn't move at all. I couldn't speak. I couldn't do a thing.
I heard Tom scream, then screams of pain. Nade walked over to me. He knelt down beside me, his eyes fully black.
"Soon, your mother will die."
