I finally got this scene together but there is one thing that I most specify. For those of you who have read A Bewitching Tale already knows this, but for new readers I want to tell you that the character of Scurvy speaks through telepathy and only Sophie can hear him. With that said on with the story.
Young Milton Farnsworth grabbed hold of Sophie like a rag doll and practically dragged her around the dance floor. Something told her she made a grave mistake in agreeing to this.
As they started to dance she felt his feet on her four different times. He was out of step with the music, and he swung her around so hard that she was spinning even when he let her go. She nearly fell on the floor, but through some miracle he caught her again. The song only lasted a few minutes, but it felt like an eternity. Scurvy in his werewolf form was a much better dancer than this young man.
The one and only time she got Scurvy to dance with her was a year before after they freed those two beastial cats from the poachers. The feline village was so grateful for bringing back their prince and princess that they gave them a huge party to celebrate. Somehow Sophie convinced Scurvy to dance with her, which didn't take that much prodding. She was able to get Scurvy to perform tasks that no one else could. They had not danced since and she dreamed of the day that they would dance again.
Dancing with Milton wasn't anything like dancing with Scurvy, and she prayed the song would end soon. Finally, it did, and the piano player started a slow song. "Would you care to dance to another?"
"Oh, no, Mister Farnsworth," Sophie said, a bit of desperation in her voice. "I'm all tired out from that last dance."
"Then let me get us some refreshments," he said looking a little disappointed, but Sophie just couldn't endure another dance with Milton.
"Alright, I'll be out on the porch getting some air," she said as he walked towards the French doors that led outside. She was relieved to get a few minutes alone. Milton didn't seem like a bad sort. She really had no real opinion since she didn't know him that well, but if his personality was like his dancing then there was no hope.
She sat outside in one of the small wicker chairs. Her feet were killing her and she was relieved to be off her feet for a little while. She looked out at the night air and smiled. The moon was full of stars lit up the night so bright she thought for a second that it was day time. It made her think of Scurvy. He had promised that he would be here tonight, but as of yet he had not arrived. She sat in silence for a few seconds until she heard a rustling in the large bushes at the edge on the lawn a few feet from the house. She shot up from her seat and looked towards the bushes.
"You can come out now," she said with the rustling continuing but nothing came out. "Scurvy, I know it's you, so you might as well show yourself."
I look ridiculous, he said, still refusing to come out. That fancy suit your sister insisted that I wear...
"Please, let me see you," Sophie said, leaning on the railing of the porch.
Fine, but if anyone from the Wolf Clan sees me they would kick me out for sure. Just then Scurvy came out wearing a black suit and a hat. She smiled at the sight thinking that he looked quite dapper.
"Scurvy, you look very handsome, so will you please go to the party with me?" Scurvy put on a long face but Sophie gave him that look she always gave him when she would not take no for an answer.
Oh, alright, I'll come, he said and then he gave a slight growl. But if one of those high society idiots makes one remark...
"They won't, Scurvy, so come on and let's have some fun," Sophie said and laughed a little. He approached the porch and walked up the steps. His eyes were transfixed on Sophie as he witnessed the sight of her in the fine dress her sister had made for her. "So, how do I look?"
Beautiful, but then you always do, Scurvy said in a quiet, tender voice. If his body wasn't covered in fur she would have seen him blushing.
"You're sweet," she said and squatted down to his level and kissed him on top of his head. "Shall we go inside?"
Lead the way, my lady, he said as she stood up once more and they walked into the main ballroom together.
To be Continued...
Well, it looked like Scurvy showed up to the party. What will happen next, be here next time to find out.
