Hi, there, I want to give a shout out to Oh_My_Croft for giving me the encouragement to write this. This is just a scene between two sisters.

Amelia ran through the house looking desperately for her sister. "Sophie, would you please come out!" she called out but Sophie wouldn't answer.

Amelia rolled her eyes and shoved her long hair out of her way. They were rolled in pencil curls held on the side by a large silver brush. Her hair was very unique. It was mostly a light silvery blonde, but the tips were dark in color, almost black.

She lifted up her skirts enough to walk over to the long wide stairs. They were covered in a dark red velvet carpet with golden roped edges. Being married to a Bordon had its luxuries. Amelia had the means to buy anything she wanted, but with all her money and riches was meaningless when it came to helping her sister with her romantic endeavors.

She looked on the stairs and saw a blue ribbon with white lace trim. She had that ribbon since she was twelve years old and wore it most every day since then, and she wasn't one to leave her things just laying around anywhere especially something she treasured so much.

It was a rule that a young lady only accidentally leaves behind something she loves when a suitor she particularly fancies is around. The gentlemanly thing to do was to return it to the young lady. If he does then the young lady knows he is worth pursuing. Amelia had pulled that trick many times before she met her now husband Ethan.

At the time, they were first courting she believed all her tricks worked on him, but it turned out that he knew every dirty little trap she ever tried to pull off and called her on it. So naturally she fell in love with him.

Amelia was a high maintenance woman and she knew it, but her sister Sophie was different. She wanted the simple life, but even the ordinary things for Sophie were hard to obtain. Even after all the times she had tried to play matchmaker for her and who does she want, someone who isn't even human.

It didn't matter right now, because Sophie was her little sister, and even though most of the times they were at odds, when Sophie was having a problem Amelia was going to do whatever she could to help.

She walked down the hallway and passed door after door. They were all closed except for one. It was at the end of the hall, and a special guest room she had prepared just for Sophie.

The door was only cracked, but Amelia could hear Sophie crying. She rarely did that, so she had to be truly distraught. She quietly entered the room taking great care not to startle her sister. She hated for people to see her cry. She approached her slowly and Sophie turned to her looking upon her in concern.

"Are you alright?" Amelia asked.

"I'm fine," she said and dried her eyes with her handkerchief. "I just don't think I'm going to go to the party tonight."

"Why not?" Amelia asked. "I really need you at this party, and besides you promised."

"I know but..." She hesitated for a moment. "Well, it's just Scurvy is going to be there tonight..."

"And he's only coming to see you," she said, interrupting her.

"What am I going to say to him?" Sophie asked, getting off the bed. She walked over to the full -length mirror.

"You were right when we were kids and you said that I was ugly." She looked at her long brown hair that was straight as a board, unlike her sister's platinum hair with the dark ends that everyone complimented saying that was so alluring. Then there was her plain figure. She was not as well-endowed as her sister. In fact, she always felt that she was too skinny and had hardly any curves at all.

"No, I wasn't," Amelia said as she approached her sister. "I only said that because I was jealous of you."

Sophie turned around quickly with a look of shock about her face. "No, you were not, Amelia. You hated me, and I was never as pretty as you."

"Sophie, you were more than pretty," Amelia said, continuing to shock her sister with her words. "You're smart, sweet and sensitive, and tonight everyone will know just how special you are." Amelia stood there waiting for her sister to comply.

"Are you trying to use your powers of persuasion on me?" she asked but Amelia only laughed.

"You know my powers don't work on you," she said as she walked over to the closet. She reached in and pulled out a blue dress. It had tiny blue flowers round the shoulders and waist and a trail of them all the way down the skirt.

"Alright, I'll go," Sophie said and held up her hands in surrender. "Just do me one favor."

"And what would that be?" Amelia asked as she laid the dress out on the bed.

"Don't use your powers on anyone else to make them like me, either."

"I would never do that," Amelia said innocently, Sophie knew that would be something she would do.

"Oh, yes you would," Sophie said meeting her sister eye to eye. She was a few inches shorter than her, so she stood on her tippy toes.

"Alright," Amelia said and took both of her sister's hands in hers. "I promise." Sophie was a little more relieved as she glided her hand down the skirt of the dress. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. "Now, in an hour I'll send Phyllis in here to help you get dressed, and I want you down stairs promptly at seven."

"Yes, ma'am," Sophie said sarcastically while curtsying.

Amelia left her sister's room, but she was still worried about her. She just hoped this infatuation with Scurvy wouldn't last long.

This took two days to write, mostly because I was busy babysitting for my neighbor, but here it is. Next up: Amelia Bordon gives a party, all eyes are on Sophie.
