Chapter four: Unexpected news

I sat in my room, reading the same old book. It was relieving to think about something other than -A and his stupid games.
I thought of Emily, what happened? Am I suddenly into girls, was it a friendly kiss? She maybe kissed me because she had missed me, not because she was into me.

I stopped thinking when I caught myself reading the same sentence over and over again, my concentration was long gone.

I closed the book and was just going to go downstairs to make me some tea when my father came into the door. He had been crying, he never cries...

"What's wrong?!" I said as he placed his body next to mine.

"Um Alison, I need to tell you something..." He said.

"Well..?" I said in an attempt to make him spit it out.

"Your mom has been in an accident... A car accident" Kenneth said as he sobbed.

I didn't understand the words comming out of his mouth but then I panicked.

"How is she?! We need to go to the hospital to visit her! Why aren't we in the hospital! DAD!" I screamed as I was beginning to prepare for the worst.

Kenneth looked down at his lap and tried to breathe. Then I realized what has happened.

"No.. NO!" I screamed as I fell flat on the floor. I couldn't stand up, I didn't even know if my legs were working.

I didn't cry, I couldn't, I didn't wanna feel the pain. Mom was gone, dead. I laid all numb on the floor but then dad picked me up and placed me on the bed. He kissed my forehead and said that he needed to talk to the cops outside..

I didn't even move. I was numb, I didn't feel anything...

The next day everyone knew about it, it's rosewood. Rumors spreads like a disease here.
I hadn't moved, eaten or spoke since yesterday. I was still in chock.

"Emily's at the door... And try to eat something honey..." Kenneth said, his voice was unstable. I didn't even cared that he didn't knock.. I didn't move my face once.
Then Emily came into the room, I managed to sit up, and fake smile at her.

"Hey I heard, I am so sorry, I'm here for you..." She said, she looked so sad.
She dragged her fingers through my hair.

I attempted to talk but nothing came out.

"You don't need to say anything" She said as she placed herself on the bed next to me, we laid down. I snuggled in to her, her warmth made me feel safe. She hugged me I never wanted it to end. I felt my eyelids get heavier and heavier and moments later I was sound asleep.
