Alexander had fallen asleep on the bed without even knowing it and started dreaming but this was no ordinary dream. He opened his eyes and found himself on a grassy hill with a large oak tree at the very center of it. He was confused and disoriented, he gazed up and saw a night sky filled with more stars than he had ever seen in his whole life. Faintly he began to hear the crying of a girl. He pulled himself together and slowly walked to the source of the sobbing, behind the oak tree. There he found a girl wearing a white lace dress sitting with her head buried in her arms. Her straight dark brown hair fell upon her shoulders and knees in a somewhat graceful way.Alexander stopped a few feet away from her before he spoke.
"A...are you ok?" he asked in a concerned but shy voice.
Even though he was sure that he had never seen this girl before he somehow felt a connection with her like he could have known her his whole life. The girl slowly raised her head, Alexander was horrified at what he saw. The girl's eyes were completely black and blood streamed from them like tears. Suddenly Alexander found himself frozen he could no longer feel or control his limbs. Then the girl rose to her feet and slowly started to towards him. She opened her arms as if she was going to hug him.
"Please h...help me," she said in a whisper, "please."
"Who are you.... what do you want from me?" Alexander questioned in a frightened tone.
"Please...," she begged again as her bloody tear flow increased.
The snake of fear slithered its way down Alexander's spine and gave him a bite injecting its sinister venom. Just as the girl was about to hug him a bright, white, blinding light cut off his vision. He was sure he was a goner but when he opened his eyes again he was surprised to find himself back in his bedroom on his bed. He gave a sigh of relief being thankful it was only a dream. He was however confused as to what it meant and how his mind could have come up with it in the first place.
Still puzzled by his dream Alexander made his way down stairs and into the kitchen. There he had a breakfast of cereal and milk. As soon as he left the kitchen he was caught by Gretchen.
"Alex go make yourself decent a friend of mine is coming over in a short while," she sang in a bubbly tone.
Just great I'm going to surrounded by 2 middle aged women how awkward he thought to himself while he nodded at Gretchen. He made his way back upstairs got dressed and came back down he wore a black jeans and a forest green t-shirt. Moments after a tall woman walked through the door unlike Gretchen this woman looked younger than her age she had long curly brown hair, clear gray eyes and a fair complexion. She wore a sky blue dress with a white floral print.
"This is my friend Adalade," Gretchen introduced "and this is her daughter Alicia" she continued.
Just as she said that a girl walked out from behind Adalade. Alexander froze when he saw her, he couldn't believe his eyes. Alicia had a striking resemblance to the girl Alexander had seen in his dream the night before, except unlike the girl from his dream her eyes weren't black they were a deep turquoise blue they sparkled and shone, and reminded Alexander of the sea. With a shy smile she waved hi. This is impossible it's just a coincidence it has to be Alexander though to himself.
"Well don't just stare at her say something," Gretchen whispered to Alexander.
Alexander simply waved at her still in disbelief.
"Well I think you two kids should maybe go to the park and get to know each other while Gretchen and I talk," Adalade suggested breaking the awkward silences.
Alicia and Alexander left the house with each other and proceeded to the park. On the walk over neither of them said a word to the other.
