And it seems like I didn't update on time... again. Whoops. But my VPN had a problem and I had to work on my new book [Started With An Egg] so please check it out! :D
"So he was like.... blah blah blahblahblah....and I was sooo pissed off and..." Libby rattled on about her now ex boyfriend. Precisely, her 36th ex.
!!! .___.
"Say Ali, did Chris ask you to the dance yet? It's been like- nine days since the announcement!" She said cheerfully, oblivious to my uncomfortableness
I bit my lip. It was true, but Chris hadn't even brought the subject up. I tried to steer the conversation to that topic a few times, but he never got the hint. Boys...
"He didn't right?" Asked Libby cautiously, finally understanding how I felt.
"No," I sighed. "I don't even get why I accepted that fricking challenge anyways. Life would be waaaaay simpler.
"Well um Ali? I've got to shop for my dress now, Alex asked me out! He's like THE perfect guy!"
"To dump..." I mutter.
I could just imagine her pouting across the line. "Do you wanna come though?" She said.
"Yeah sure, but what will I buy? A dress that would just gather dust in my closet? Argh. Stupid boy business."
"You could always just shop for a new outfit. Plus, you promised."
"Yeah I still have to arrange some of my socks but I guess I can come," I replied sarcastically. I didn't really have anything to do. I was supposed to have my cello class today, but Mrs. Walkers was about to give birth to a baby boy.
Boys. Again. Always finding a way to wreck my life. Even though it would be nice to go shopping.
I sent a text to Libby telling her to meet me at Starbucks one hour later.
+++
"Hiiii Ali!" I turned around. It was Libby all right.
"Hey," I gave her a small wave.
"I so knew that Mark was gonna ask me out to the dance but thank god Alex called first. He's so disgusting with like, pimples all over his face. Did you know," She said quietly ,leaning over. "The guys say he has pimples on his CHEST!" She made a face.
"TMI!" I handed her my nearly empty Summer Berry frappuccino dramatically. "I think I just lost my appetite."
"Yeah okay lets go you weirdo."
It took almost an hour to find the perfect dress for Libby.
"Eww I hate lace!"
"Ohmigosh who puts that much pink onto a dress!"
"Too long."
"Too short."
"Too loose."
"I want a blue one, not yellow!"
"Too floral."
Then finally...
"This is perfect! Yay! I look just like Elsa!" She struck a pose.
"I know that I can always count on you to be immature. C'mon, try it on!" I said clapping my hands. ( I know right!)
When she dramatically emerged from the changing room, I was stunned. That thing actually looked good! Some guys whistled outside. But then she saw another dress that looked kind of the same but shorter. God save me!
"Ali! Should I get that one instead? She asked innocently.
I grabbed a cheaper and similar dress from one of the racks. "Get this and we'll leave." I have to admit, that dress wasn't really pretty but I'm sure it'll look okay on her.
She put her hands in mock surrender.
"Well okay, time to find mine," I said.
"'Kay."
------
After looking through several shops and a hell lot of racks, I decided on a pair of denim shorts, a navy spaghetti tank top, crop top.... a white flowy white skirt and a pair of sandals. Yay sandals! And at that random moment, I decided I would just man up and go ask Chris about the dance. Yay me! :) Which turned out to be a dumb move. Kind of. Especially that I sort of told Libby...Yup.
I went home, put on my new clothes (DUH) and sent a text to Chris.
meet me at the outside of Ivy Terrace in 5 mins
okay...
Not that you wouldn't know, but Ivy Terrace is where I happen to live.(I'm counting on you to not tell any stalkers. Unless you're one 0.0)
So doing what any girl would do, I put on a few dabs of makeup and walked outside, munching on a cookie. ( I don't get fat easily) Cookies help a lot in awkward situations.
---
Chris was leaning against one of the pillars. I waved. Inside, I was like, jelly.
*AHHHHH*
[sorry that was me.]
"Ali? What's up?" Chris waved lazily.
"Uh. hehe, nothing much..."
"Oh?" He arched an eyebrow.
"Well, you see... um...like,"
Chris looked at me with cold eyes.
"Ali? Does this have to do with the dance? Because dances are a silly tradition that happens every half a year and end of the year. Girls fret over every single one and boys go with girls that they don't even like. It is a meaningless and useless tradition at our school."
"Uh...no?" I stammered.
"Good."
What?
He looked at me."Because I have absolute zero intention of going to the dance with you Ali."
And this is it. Super sorry that i didn't update and i'll try my best. The next chapter will be the epilogue and its gonna be quite short, sorry, i have to work on my other story.
Oh yeah, and if anyone has a brilliant original idea for a story PLEASE tell me!
(:
