Draco's POV

It's a dark morning. Darker than average. I'm walking around the Manor, collecting everything I need to go back to Hogwarts when I hear voices from my Father's study.

At first I stare at my hands, they shake with nerves from the past few days, and feel utterly freezing. I shove them in my pockets.

"...and we've been hearing things from Barty, saying that it's true—she has the gift," I hear someone say. It sounds like my father speaking.

"If she truly is that powerful..." another voice says. This one sounds unfamiliar—it sounds, frantic, excited, panicked. He pronounces his F's with far too much dictation.

"...and since her father is simply running away..." my father continues.

"...it would benefit the Dark Lord..." the unfamiliar voice finishes.

A creaking floorboard sounds behind me and I turn to see Y/n holding a finger to her lips, indicating I stay silent.

"Wormtail, since you cannot get into the castle any longer, get messages to Barty by owl. The second Triwizard Tournament is being held on the 24th of February in the Great Lake. Harry Potter needs to survive," Lucius says in his stern voice, the one he uses when something is too important to mess up. A voice I've gotten used to.

"It's been burning, sir. Has yours been as well?" the second voice asks in that strangled voice of his.

"Don't be daft, Wormtail, of course it has; he's coming back. Soon," Lucius says.

Footsteps sound in the room, seemingly getting closer to the door of the study.

My eyes widen. Then Y/n grabs my hand and yanks me back down the hallway before the 2 figures in my father's study could come out and find us eavesdropping.

She pulls me all the way to her room and shuts the door.

"What is going on?" I say, but it came out in more of a hiss.

"What's going on is that there is an imposter at the school going by the name 'Barty' and they want to..." she trails off. "They want to use me for something..."

Barty Crouch? From the Ministry? He couldn't be an imposter when he's so out in the open...

I search her eyes, trying to will her to look at me. When her eyes do meet mine, they are filled with fear. But in that fear, I see determination.

"I don't know what it is exactly that they want me for, but I will find out, and they won't get to use me." When I don't say anything, she runs a shaky hand through her hair and turns away.

"Do you really think he's coming back?" I blurt.

She turns back around, her expression grim. "I think there's a good chance."

I nod, visibly gulping. I need a distraction. Suddenly, in two large steps, I'm standing right in front her, planting a kiss on her lips.

Before I can pull away, her hands come up to my shoulders and pulls me back to her lips. My fingers go in her hair, tangling in it and scrunching it.

"You should probably go back to your room to pack..." she mutters against my lips.

"Yeah," I respond, pulling away to look at her for a moment. "But this is so much better." My lips find their way back to hers at once, pulling her closer, pushing my tongue past her lips.
