A face
Flat
And shrunken
Mangled
And deformed
almost beyond recognitionA family
Beriddled
With tuberculosis
And yet
Still togetherA woman
Buried with her child
And a small kid
Who is not her ownA screaming monkey
Bedecked with feathers
Cerimonial
Or sacrificeBrittle bones
Snapped fingers
Lost heads
Gone
Given to the earthBeware
The cermonial sacrifice
Beware
The ragging sickness
Beware
The waiting earthBut
We'll all end up there
Some day
Below our feet
Decomposing
Forgotten
Until centuries later
The dirst is thrown aside
New discoveries are made
