"C'mon Linnie, let's go" I hear my sister yell from downstairs. My sister is twenty eight and I live her and my little brother Jake. I go downstairs and she smiles at me. "Wanna know what I can't wait for?" she asks "When you get a car and can take yourself and Jake to school" she smiles happily.
"Yes Hannah, I know" I say and walk out the door, her shutting it behind me. I see Jake sitting in the front seat and I groan, lifting my head to the sky and dragging myself along.
"Jacob Woods, if you smirk at me one more time while sitting in that seat, I'll rip your lips off, got it?" I say and Jake puts his lips together and stops looking in the mirror to me. Hannah looks in the rear view mirror shaking her head at me. I've always been a little rude to Jake, he's fourteen and a half, almost fifteen. I'm sixteen and a half. Hannah and Jake are brother and sister where as I am their adopted sister. My mom and dad were on and off so when they were on, they had me and didn't want me for when they'd be off again. I was adopted, by Hannah and Jake's parents when I was a baby. It's all very complicated. Instead of Woods -like my siblings -my last name is Parker. I don't understand why, I've never met my birth mother or birth father and don't consider them my parents but Hannah says that I need to keep my birth name because it's special. I don't think it's special, it's not even unique.

Hannah drops Jake and I off at school and he walks over to his friends without a goodbye. Jake runs into my best friend and she groans. "Jake" she whines and rolls her eyes to continue walking to me. "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed" she says referring to the little brother that ran into her.
"Someone is just a jerk all the time" I say and she smiles with a small shrug.
"So" she hums dragging the word out.
"So what?" I ask looking to her.
"Who do you like? You said you'd tell me today" she says excitedly. I did tell Ella that I liked someone and would tell her today if she told me who she liked. I don't actually like anyone, I just wanted her to tell me.
"Ellie, I said that to get you to tell me" I admit to her and she gasps.
"Madalynn Parker!" she screeches and walks faster to get away from me. I shake my head and laugh. I see someone staring from a few feet away. I catch up to Ella and continue walking with the pissed off girl I call my best friend.

"Hey, look. New kids" she says and points to the main office. "He's cute" she says nudging me.
"Yeah well that girl standing next to him is probably his girlfriend, El. Let's go" I say pulling her away from the window in the main office. I have to admit he is cute.

Ella disappeared and I'm now trying to find her. We have five minutes between classes and it's our last period in two minutes. "Excuse me" I hear someone say. I turn around quickly seeing the new boy that Ella and I thought was hot. "Can you help me find my next class?" he asks. I take a deep breathe and look one last time around for Ella before I nod. He smiles and I take his schedule.
"We have the same class, follow me"  I smile and he follows.
"I'm Tyler by the way, Tyler Lockwood"
"Madalynn Parker"
"Wait a minute, Madalynn Parker?" he asks. I stop and turn to him.
"Yes? You've heard of me?" I ask and he shakes his head.
"No, just know someone with the same last name is all" he says with a small fake smile. I nod and turn around again, hoping I'm not late for class.
"So who was that girl in the main office with you?" I ask casually. Once the words came out of my mouth I knew I shouldn't have said anything.
"Stalking me?" he asks
"No, my friend caught intrest" I explain and he chuckles.
"My half-sister Lydia, same mom different dads" I nod and smile slightly. Not his girlfriend.
"Well this is our class" I say as we stand outside the door. I almost go inside until he pulls my arm.
"Meet me out here after class" I nod and he gives me a smirk before getting into the classroom.

"Mads! There you are! Let's go, you're coming over right?" Ella asks. I nod and look around.
"I'm waiting for someone and I need to tell Jake" I inform her. She stands next to me and when Tyler comes over she gasps at me.
"Hey, so can we maybe hang out or something?" he asks
"I'm gonna take Jake home..." Ella starts walking backwards.
"Ella, we aren't on the way home or anything" I say. She wouldn't pick me up from my house to get to school but occasionally she would take Jake and I home because it's far.
"It's fine" she says, turning around and finding Jake. I put my hands over my face and sigh. Ella is probably mad at me for talking to Tyler.
"Ty, let's go" I hear someone say, it's his sister Lydia. "Who's this?" she smiles at him.
"I'm Madalynn Parker" Lydia's face drops and she looks to Tyler. She must know the someone with the last name Parker too.
"Lydia, Lydia Martin. I'm Tyler's older sister. Do you need a ride home?" she asks
"Actually, I was going to invite her over, Lydia" Tyler says. Lydia looks questionably at him.
"Actually I'm getting my license today, I'm waiting for my sister" I tell them. They both nod and say goodbye before walking off.

I get in the car with Hannah and smile at her, nervous and excited. She drives off and we get to the DMV so that I can take my test. Hannah sits in the back, the instructor sits next to me and I drive.

Luckily, I got my license and passed my test, obviously. I drive myself straight to Ella's and knock on her door. When her mom sees me she smiles and lets me in. I go in and knock on Ella's door. She opens it with a smile and drags me into her room. I guess I don't have to tell my I'm sorry speech. "So" she drags out the word and smiles.
"I got my license" I smile at her and she nods.
"I know. Now tell me about the new kid" she says
"His name is Tyler" I say plainly.
"And he's cute" she says, squealing at the word 'cute'.
