I started writing Legacy of Birds in 2022, and now, three years later, I'm still here, in this strange little world I had chosen to pour my time and soul into. I'm happy that I had continued this far, happier still that you are reading this, that you have also enjoyed this world enough to follow it to this point.
As I mentioned in Legacy of Birds, the first book in this story is about, among other things, Emma's journey to restore faith in the good of this world. If Legacy of Birds is about faith, then I think A Circuit of Time is about taking action after regaining your faith. Not just believing the good of this world but actually fight for it.
I'm glad this book also gave me an opportunity to add some paleontological horror elements into it, which is something I have been trying to do ever since I started taking writing seriously. The setting of the last two chapter being in Asia also provided me room to play with some political themes I have always been interested to tackle, since I live in Asia myself. Although I do hope I can spend more time exploring the political aspect of this world.
It was around January of 2025, I think, as I was planning other original stories when I realized how important this one is to me. The feeling that you owe this world you created a complete story, even though this is a fanfiction and the world was built on something other people made. But you know you at least owe it to yourself to see this story through to the end. So I promised myself to complete this trilogy, to give this world a proper ending.
Two books finished, one to go.
