I woke up after my alarm clock went off; checking the time it said 6:55. I spent the weekend at home or with Kasey. I never liked opening up to people. I kept to myself never going to parties or anything, and didn’t have many friends back in my old home of New York because they said I was no fun and needed to live a little. But I didn’t mind, because that just means they couldn’t accept me. But spending time with Kasey was different I felt like I could say anything and she would just listen.

After taking a shower, I put on a t-shirt that had the ‘coca-cola’ label on it with dark blue skinny jeans and high top converse. I headed downstairs to where my mom was cooking breakfast, “Tala I made pancakes ok?”

“Yeah mom that’s fine.” I replied yawning.

“Ok” she set down the plate in front of me, it had bacon, toast, and of course the pancakes. “So did you have a good weekend?”

“Yeah I mostly spent it with Kasey.” I answered putting the plate in the sink. “Mom I gotta get to school since we live around 25 minutes away.”

“Ok have a good day!” she called as I closed the door. I made my way to the garage where I grabbed the keys to my new 2011 Ford Mustang GT convertible. I admit that our family was rich because this car obviously does not come cheap; it was a 16th birthday present though. I wanted something less…..noticeable, but a cars a car, and I don’t use there money a lot.

I made my way down the road to school it was already 7:40. I’m going to make it, I thought, yes! I guess with this baby I could make it.

Driving into the parking lot, it was now 7:45. Right as I made my way into it, people turned and gawked at it. I sighed, so much for being unnoticeable. I parked where I thought I would least likely ever get hit and opened the door. “Hey!” a high pitched voice said. I turned around to see a girl in Gucci glasses with black hair looking at me.

“Yes?” I asked, obviously, I could tell if I got on her bad side my life would be a living hell.

“You’re in my spot” she spat.

“The last time I checked no ones name was there.” She was probably glaring at me through her to large glasses, and huffing she drove away. I started my way towards the building, more like the main building.

“Hey!” I jumped when I heard a voice next to me. Looking over Kasey’s eyes were wide. “You just stood up to the ‘it bitch’ of the school, Jessie Wilkins.”

“Great, that’s just what I need on my first day” I said sarcastically.

“That’s gotta suck, hey just stick with me. She hates me but you know, I don’t want her to like me anyway.” I looked at her and she wore a shirt that said ‘give 100% at work: 18% Monday 23% Tuesday 25% Wednesday 22% Thursday 12% Friday…100% effort.

“I’ll show you to the office so you can get the schedule, K?” she said. I was just coming into the first part of the first semester, it was only September.

“Yeah sure,” walking into the building we took a left and made our way to the office. A woman sat down with her hair down, wearing a purple blouse with probably a pencil skirt.

She sat typing on her computer then looked up and smiled, “hello I’m Miss Day, and what can I do for you?”

Kasey spoke first, “We need a schedule for her please.”

“And what is your name?” Ms. Day asked looking at me.

“Tala, Tala Evans,” I replied, “I would like a map of the school too, please.”

“Sure thing,” she looked in a file and took out my schedule and a map, “here you go, and it look like your first class is Chemistry, with Kasey here.” She beamed handing me the paper.

We made our way to Chemistry stopping by my locker first; Ms. Day wrote us both a pass since it’s my first day. When I got my stuff we ran to class it was about 20 minutes into the lesson. The teacher saw Kasey come in but didn’t notice me at first, “Kasey, your late again.” He sighed and she laughed a little.

“Hey! This time I have a pass, and a friend so please don’t count me as late this time.” She said pointing to me.

“Oh. That’s right, class this will be our new student um…Oh here, Tala Evans can you tell the class where you moved from?”

“Um hi. Ya my names Tala and I just moved here from New.”

“Yes, New York…well since you will be attending Cast high from here on out, I am Mr. Marker you can take a seat.” I didn’t like being the center of attention; never have, so I walked to a free space that was right next to Kasey.

And that’s how the day went on, until history, it was the class before lunch and I didn’t have history with Kasey. So, I walked in alone. “And who might you be?” the teacher looked at me questionably, “Tala Evans”

“Ah, so you’re the new student. Well I am Mr. Kales but call me Mr. K.”

“Ok” I took a seat by the window in the back; it was kind of like a couch for two actually. A girl cam up to me and sat down. “Hey I’m Anna who are you?” Anna greeted.

            “I’m Tala, the new student.”

“Oh so you’re the new student, well I hope you like it here!” she beamed at me, here glasses reflecting off the light. She had strait dark red hair with hazel eyes like mine, wearing a plain red t-shirt and dark blue jeans.

“Ok class lets get started” we all picked up a pencil and opened our books.

Lunch_______

I walked into the large room, consisting of many types of people, jocks, cheerleaders, poplars’, and others. It was such a cliché and I have never seen this before, seriously. I got my lunch and sat down at an empty table where ‘others’ would be, then Kasey and Anna quickly followed. We talked and talked, until I saw someone. A boy who looked my age but you know what was strange?

He was the exact boy from my dream in the forest.

“Tala? Are you listening” I stopped looking at the boy and turned to them.

“No sorry.” I said, she looked where I was staring, “Oh him?” she leaned in next to me in a hushed whisper, “That is Christopher Kinsley, he is with ‘it bitch’ and just don’t talk to him or if you get on his bad side…well maybe if you’re a guy, he can cause a hell of a lot of pain.” I just saw him out of the corner of my eye, staring at me. I gulped and turned back to eat the rest of my lunch.
