Chapter 6: A Ball

            Let me tell you something. When you just found out right after you moved here that someone your supposed to stay away from kidnaps you then, telling you that they’re a vampire…AND THEN all of the sudden spontaneously there is a ball that you agree to go to while pretty much your asking for death because every single person in one room is a vampire except you, it’s oh I don’t know. Worrying?

            But I had to get over that, sadly, because I wasn’t allowed to leave this house. I scoffed inwardly, more like mansion, I thought.

            “Ready for this?” Kaela asked pulling me out of my sea of thoughts. I took a ragged breath, “Ya I think so.”

            (Play music here)

            We walked for about a minute until two large doors stood openly, looking bright and inviting. As we walked in a staircase descending down was put in a strait line down to the main event of the evening. I saw other strangely beautiful people…vampires dancing to the calming and beautiful yet eerie music. Kaela went down first, walking gracefully down until she faced me at the end nodding.

            In one of those cliché moments as I walked down everyone stopped dancing and turned to face me, all but one. Finally, Christopher turned around, eyes widening as he saw me. I just felt so safe in this spur of the moment. That comment dripped with sarcasm, didn’t it?

            “Wow,” he said his mouth opening, speechless, “You look great, Tala.” I smiled at him, “Thanks Christopher.”

            “I told you, it’s Chris,” haha yeah of course I knew, but I also know it gets on his nerves.

            “Ya I know.” I told him smirking.

            “Dance?” he asked taking my hand and spinning me but carefully bringing me back in his arms.

            “I don’t know how…” I said blushing slightly embarrassed.

            “Nothing to worry about just follow my lead.” And so I did. He place an arm around my waist with the other taking my hand then I put my other hand on his shoulder and we began to dance. Spinning and laughing when I almost tripped, following his every move catching on fast.

            “See? Your not so bad.” He mused.

            “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

    “Well it was supposed to be one.” I stared into his green eyes as we became silent. Then it was the first moment I realized no one else was dancing. But watching us. I gulped as I became self conscious, hoping I wouldn’t mess up. Then Kaela came over and I gladly left the dance floor.

            Chris’ point of view

             “You must like her a lot, don’t you Chris.” Kaela asked staring at my as we danced.

            “Yes Kaela, I do. I don’t know why but I feel as if I’ve known her forever.”

            “She’s really nice Chris; don’t go breaking her heart ok?” Nor could I let her know I was a prince.

            “What about the fact we are royalty sister?” she sighed and looked at me with meaning, “I don’t know, Chris. Tell her when you think she’s ready. By now she probably thinks that we’re just really old and that we saved up a lot of money.” She chuckled and I laughed at her point.

            “Who knows, but it’s partly true, just it was our parents. And were only 100, that’s not even 1/3 of what some of the people in this room are. I’m sure that some are about 600 for all we know.” I’m sure others were listening, because we heard a few chuckles and saw people looking at us.

            “Really I just came to tell you be careful, brother. I care about you ok? I would hate if we got in a tiff at some point about Tala.” That’s when I started looking for her, only to see her dancing with my best friend, Bryce who also went to school with me. They looked like they would be good friends too. And that’s how it better stay, because there was one thing I knew: I had to break up with Jessie,

                                    Because I admit, I love Tala. Even if it only has been a day.
