I love it when the real world seasons match up with the season in the story. We are IN summer! I hope you're having a wonderful wonderful time.

Chapter 74: Sickening Little Lovebirds

I found myself in a peculiar situation.

Pecuulia.

Sounds like petunia, if I purse my lips and make an old lady's voice.

Fleeing from my potential blackmailer with the two most fashionable girls I know is a stylish way to go.

Charlotte Dawson and Chioma Dozie would make sure I looked good on the way to a morgue.

Cha and Chi.

Cha chi. Chi cha?

That also has a ring to it.

Hmm.

"Millie?" Oma broke me out of my thoughts, "You look really worried and I'm sorry. I didn't want to put you into a tight situation with Luke."

I looked back at her, feeling guilty that my thoughts were chi-cha-ing.

Oma continued, "Or get involved in anything. I really thought we were on a fun day trip, but this sounds intense."

"Most of the tension is coming from Luke," Charlotte said, stabbing her phone, "From a thousand miles away. He can be a very annoying little brother."

"But we're not, like, in danger, are we?" Oma asked, leaning forward in the gap between our two car seats, "Because I would say to drop me off, but we're in the middle of nowhere now."

"It's all fine," Charlotte answered, calming us all down, "Who hasn't dealt with some drama, am I right?"

"Preach," Oma sighed, relaxing back into her seat.

"Luke always has a couple crazies lusting after him and now that he's in his first big boy relationship, they're harassing our poor little Millie," Charlotte reached out and tapped me comfortingly on the shoulder, "What are they gonna do? Share your nudes?"

Already did ...

I remembered the photos of me in my bra plastered all around the school with "$5 hooker" on it.

"I swear our high school is nuts. They build him up to be some hero and can't stand seeing him happy," Oma sympathised.

Charlotte yanked up the volume of the music and raised her sunglasses on top of her head.

"It's summer, we're in the prime of our youth and right now is all we ever have guaranteed," she called out over the music.

~Luke's POV~

My phone started buzzing from an unknown number.

I answered and said nothing.

For a few seconds, I heard screaming.

It sounded like children, then some shuffling and an earnest voice on the other end:

"Luke? Luke, are you there?"

"Who is this?"

"It's Cearra, I'm sorry for calling you. I've been trying to reach Millie. She usually responds to messages in zero seconds, especially on weekends, and it's been hours, so I'm worried about her. Are you with her?"

"She's fine. How d'you get my number?" I asked, keeping an eye on the map.

1 hour 20 minutes.
