It's been three years. Three years since my love, Izaya, disappeared. Three years since I've felt his warm embrace.
Celty and Shinra, Simon, Erika and the gang, and Namie had helped me and Mioku search for him, the only clue being his shattered phone. I still had the pieces, wrapped in a cloth and tucked away.
It's been three years, and yet hardly anything has changed. Shinra and Celty are married, which Celty tried to not make a big deal while Shinra wanted to put up a billboard. Mioku is in fourth grade, Celty drives her to and from school. The two have become very close after Izaya disappeared, to the point that Celty is like a big sister. Other than that, nothing more has changed, yet everything has. Izaya isn't here. He wasn't there, and maybe, he won't be.
"Dad! Come look what we made in class!"
"Coming, Mioku!" I called, striding into the kitchen. She had a bright toothy grin as she held up a drawing of a family. I smiled and congratulated her, taking it and hanging it on the fridge. She was going to be as talented as me one day, I knew it.
Looking closer at the three, I found it was an image of what once was. Izaya, with his fur trim jacket, Mioku with her sunset hair, and I, in my bartender suit. I still wear it around.
If only Izaya was here to make the picture a reality, all of us a happy family once more.
