Being Deyes

Instead of going out to a campus party on Wednesday night with Beth and Fran I decided to spend some alone time with Alfie. He invited me over to his flat, which was pretty exciting. I made sure to bring a whole bunch of sweets just for a little bit of house warming gift. A lamp or something of that sort would've probably been more suitable, but I was in the mood for eating some sweets too.

Of course I wasn't planning on telling Alfie that Marcus and I were going out for lunch the next day, but if he already knew then I had no idea what I was going to say.

"It's pretty nice! You guys don't have any decor though... Maybe I should've gotten you a picture or something." I scanned around the small living room that was a good buy for a London flat. It was really basic with plain white walls and light hardwood flooring. If it weren't for the brown leather sofa, lazy boy, and flat screen TV the whole place would've been empty.

"We like it like this. It's simple you know? Nothing really to clean up." Alfie put his hands out as if he were displaying the place to me. By the beaming grin on his face I could see that he was very proud of him and the boys' little set up.

"And yet you still manage to make a mess..." I cringed while turning around and seeing the small kitchen covered with take out rubbish. Clearly they were not going to let go of the fact that they were boys.

"Well it'll only take a second." Alfie moaned before rushing behind the island and shoving all of the pizza boxes, take out containers, and plastic bags in the garbage. He certainly knew how to make a lady happy.

"So you forced Caspar and Marcus out for the night?" I spoke casually just so Alfie didn't catch on to what I was really interested in.

"No, Marcus went for dinner with a couple of his friends and Caspar is probably in his room sleeping. He leads a pretty simple life." Alfie joked while washing off his hands. Even though it would hard to wait to see Marcus I was kind of glad that it was just going to be Alfie and I tonight. It would be like the good old days back in Brighton.

After watching a couple random comedy movies that were on TV, and a full bag of empty sweets later Alfie turned to me seriously. I pulled my legs up on the sofa and snuggled up in the corner waiting for him to explain the weird look he was giving me.

"How has things been with uni? Meet any good guys?" Alfie asked.

"Not at uni..." I responded awkwardly. Was this Alfie's way of interigating me about Marcus? Or was he just asking me in general? "But what about that Zoe girl they lads mentioned?" I immediatly changed the subject into something that also interested me. If Alfie wanted to play that game...

"Well..." He muttered quietly without making eye contact with me. He kept his eyes firmly set on the ground. "She's a Youtuber too. A really good friend actually. Everyone thinks that we're desitined to be together. Even the subscribers." Alfie admitted awkwardly. There was a slight sign of blushing on his cheeks, but instead of making fun I just sat there and nodded.

"So.... do you fancy her?" There really must've been something behind Alfie's odd behaviour.

"I'm really still not compeletely over Diana... but I think I'm starting to, yeah. Don't tell anyone that!" Alfie stood up in an instant with a worried expression on his face.

"Who am I going to tell?" I scoffed at him.

"Evie... Marcus tells me everything. It's sweet that you didn't want to annoy me, but I completely get it. I'm the one who told him to ask you out in the first place." Alfie stared at me plainly as I began blush and giggle.

It was a nice gesture, and honestly made me feel a whole lot better about the situation.
