"Lunch!" I call out, pulling the pasties and pies out if the oven and placing the trays on the chopping boards to cool.

After not hearing a response, I walk in the direction of the lounge. Fighting noises were being heard from behind the door, adding to the blur of noise was Matt, Josh and David shouting at each other.

I chuckle and shake my head as I open the door, the absence of light created a cave like effect into the makeshift gaming room.

"Guy's lunch is ready" I inform, Josh groaned and paused the game.

"Yes mother" David grinned, I punched him lightly as he walked past.

Josh passed me, and Matt eventually followed.

Over two weeks Matt's therapy has made a turn for the better, his body is filling out and I can no longer feel his ribs.

Though my reactions were pretty extreme, my sudden memory recollections turned out to be normal.

"Are you coming?" Matt asked, snapping me out of my inner monologue.

I nod and walk back to the kitchen, stopping on my tracks as the doorbell rang.

"Was anyone else coming over?" I ask, hearing everyone say no I approach the door with a bit of caution.

I open the door and find a woman standing there, looking like an older version if me. Except with short brown hair, brown eyes and glasses on the bridge of her nose.

The only difference was the small bruises she tried to hide with make up, and the stress lines making deep wrinkles on her face, making her look much older then 48.

"Hey mum" I say, barley over a whisper.

"I heard about your accident, I came over as soon as I heard" she smiled at me, and I open the security door and hug her. Returning back to my teenage self seeking refuge in my mothers arms.

"I missed you mum, but how did you find out?" I ask, breaking out of the hug and raising my eyebrows at her.

"Josh told me" she said, giving me a cheeky smile.

"Ali, is everything alright?" Matt asked, moving next to me and placing a protective arm around my waist.

"You must be the boyfriend" mum gasped, even now at 24 parents can make you embarrassed.

"Yes mum, this is my boyfriend Matt, Matt this is my mum" I introduce, Matt smiled and greeted her.

"Please, call me Mirella" She grinned, waggling her eyebrows at me when Matt turned back into the house.

"Mum" I smiled, shaking my head and blushing slightly, waving her into the house.

"Hey guys, this is my mum" I introduced her to David, him politely shaking her hand.

"Hello Joshua, it's good to see you" She smiled warmly at Josh, I smiled at the thought of my best friend still being one of mum's favourite people.

"Do you want something to eat or drink?" I asked her, she shook her head and I lead her into the lounge room to talk privately.

I motioned for mum to sit down, she sat across from me and folded her hands neatly on her lap. I realised I was mirroring her, and thought of how similar my mother and I were to each other.

Mum and I didn't speak, letting the sounds of the kitchen drift in and fill the silence.

"How are you Ali?" She ask, leaning over and inspecting my scar that disappeared into my hairline "Did my baby get hurt?"
