All I have are memories.
Distinct.
Vivid.
But gentle.
And serene. Profound.
But it's as if they are alive. Breathing.
My memories sleep within the Light that reforged me.
I look at my hands. The all too familiar tools I have used for so long. They too hold memories.
Particular keys for a particular lock.
I stumble my way through the tower, Ghosts buzzing and humming along, without a care, not noticing that I am going quite mad.
My helmet conceals my face, my worry, my fear, my weapon is hanging loosely on my back.
I stumble to the Speakers Observation Deck, as he is babbling his cryptic words. I stand at this point, the closest to the Traveler I can possibly get, and I can only stare. Dumbfounded. Nearly blinded by its Light.
Almost brought to my knees by its mercy.
Humbled by its size. Awestruck by all of this. But what makes me fall to my knees and thank it is that it chose me.
When there were so many others.
Better than I. Better than I was.
Better than I will be.
And it chose me.
Gave to ME it's Light.
Gave to ME the power to stem the tide.
I look up and see once again, as light bounces off of its rounded, bulbous shape.
And I cannot accurately determine where these words came from.
From a passing Ghost.
Or a revenant from my past.
Or even the Traveler Itself.
But it spoke to me.
Blunt and honest.
But loving and caring.
"I chose you because there are none who are unworthy of retribution.
Now go forth. And burn our enemy."
