Priest and I sat in the bar for a good couple of hours before we returned to the Tower for the night.
We shared all of our experiences as Guardians.
Or at least what we can remember.
I had told him about Farah.
He looked at me like I was love sick.
Granted, I used dramatic pauses and sighs when I spoke of her.
But I digress.
I found a bed in the Warlock Archives.
Priest went to the Titan Library.
We met in the Central Plaza again. The morning air was crisp and sweet.
I was again caught staring at The Traveller.
Always looking at something huh? Priest says with a small laugh as he and Cayde approach me.
That's the fastest way to learn, I reply softly.
The Speaker has her new Shell ready Dylan. Cayde says smiling.
You want us to come with? Priest asks.
I think it'd be best if I saw her with The Speaker. I say.
Don't worry, I'll be sure to introduce you, I smile.
I return to the chamber where her body is laying.
The Speaker was holding a new Shell In his hands.
A small silver thing, it appeared dead.
But I was assured it was merely dormant.
It was pristine. New.
Edges rounded and soft, like a Ghost should be.
Farah lay on the table.
Slender and thin.
I was nervous and excited all at once.
I was getting another chance to have a friend at my side.
And by the Blessing of The Traveller, may you grant this one Light, and Life, eternal beneath your benevolence. The Speaker says as he finishes a prayer and slowly pushes the Shard of Light into her chest.
I stand in the corner as Light fills her.
I was witnessing a resurrection.
It was profound.
I wished my Light was capable of such things.
But I'm not a healer.
Perhaps was never supposed to be.
Farah lay still and silent for a full minute before there was any sign of new life.
She winced. Her voice was soft, quiet.
Her eyes slowly opened.
She gasped.
Guardian... Rest your fear... The Speaker ushered softly.
Breathe... He coaches along.
I... I... She starts.
She sits up, looking around.
Getting used to her new eyes.
What... What am I doing here... She says appalled.
You were assassinated beneath our crust. A Fallen Barron's blades cut into you. You were lost...
I stepped out of the thin shadow, draped in a warm, autumn colored robe.
This one... Brought you home. The Speaker says looking at me.
There was life in you still. Thanks to Cayde, we took your broken body of its Light, and gave you a new one. Exo... But still a Guardian. He says warmly.
The whole time he's explaining to her, she can't take her eyes off of me.
I wondered what she was thinking.
Maybe she was relishing a new life.
Or hating me for it.
For all I know...
Maybe she wanted to stay dead.
But it was too late to worry about that.
I understand you two were close... The Speaker says.
He's my best friend... Farah whispered with a small smile.
I smiled too.
She called me her friend.
My work is done Warlock, he says to me. I'll allow you two a moment, he says, returning to his Observatory.
I stand silently while Farah inspects herself.
Her new body.
I was still dumbstruck by all of this.
Able to save a Guardian.
I was imagining what else we were capable of.
Dylan? Farah asked finally.
I look up at her, my helmet concealing my face.
Yes Farah?
She stands up wobbly, but instantly is accustom to her new legs.
Did you... Did you kill Skylir?
I nodded softly.
Did you kill him for me?
I'd be lying if I told I didn't.
Hmm... She said under her breath.
Farah-
No... She stopped me. Not a word about that, she says walking closer to me.
All that matters is now... She said embracing me.
I held her close.
I missed you. She says softly.
I missed you too...
We held each other for what felt like eternity.
This was one of the moments I always went back to.
I felt safe in the embrace of a friend.
A family member.
Farah... I found Toland. I say.
And? She asks.
He told me to go to Neptune.
You know I'm going right?
I chuckled warmly. Well I didn't have Cayde and The Speaker go to all the trouble for nothing.
Asshole, she smiles.
C'mon, I say leading her out of the dingy room. There's someone I want you to meet.
As I was reminiscing with my friend, Priest was having a different conversation with an old friend.
Priest sat with Zavala in a quiet room in the Titan Archive.
I understand that Warlock sought you out Priest, Zavala says looking at the tomes before him.
Yeah... Priest says shuffling almost uncomfortably in his seat.
Don't worry, I won't let him down like I let you down, he says softly.
Zavala sighs deeply and looks at the floor.
I was in error when I told you that, Priest. And I know this isn't the time to give petty apologies... But that one is a good Guardian... He says softly.
Priest looks up.
And he knows a good Guardian... And if he was so adamant to find you... Then, perhaps, I should allow for you to prove that to yourself. He says softly.
Priest face twists gently into a crooked, polite smile.
While in reality he is ecstatic.
Thank you, Commander Zavala... Priest says, humbled.
As long as you are within our reach, you have the support of the City behind you Titan, Zavala smiles.
Priest stands up.
I got my brother now, he says referring to his Warlock.
That's all I need. But I appreciate it. And speaking of, I gotta go meet this new Hunter of ours. So I'll let you know if I need anything, he smiles.
He heads out and sees Farah, Cayde, and I in the Hall, Cayde waving his finger by Farah's eyes.
Ocular proficiency 110% percent Warlock, he says confidently.
Am I good or what?
Yeah yeah yeah, sure you are Cayde. Priest says behind us.
I turn and smile wide. There he is, I say as he pats my back.
He looks at Farah. She's now clad in her various armors and decor.
She is wearing a Crest of Alpha Lupi she was burned in, Vanguard gloves and a mask and boots gifted from Dead Orbit.
Is this her? He asks politely.
Farah, she says smiling, offering her hand.
Priest, he says taking it gently, making sure not to rip her arm off.
A pleasure to finally meet you. Dylan tells me you're quite the Hunter.
She looks at me cross.
Well whatever he told you, it's as true as it is not true. I'll let my actions speak for that.
Priest let's out a laugh.
That's what I like to hear!
As he and Farah talk and get to know one another, Cayde takes me aside.
Hey, Dylan, remember how you said you take my next hit?
I nod softly. So soon?
Well,  Variks, from the Reef, wants a Fallen Barroness dead. He contacted me personally. And to be honest, I know you'll get it done fastest, and I was thinking maybe you'd want dibs. Variks is paying well, Reef weapons as far as I know.
I looked at Priest and Farah.
I think that's an excellent idea. I say slyly looking at Cayde.
