It was, as this time is different, a matter of days before it all became clear.
All you see now is this... Affection. For levelheadedness. No more embracing the madness.
Giving into the curiosity.
I often squabble with fellow Warlocks.
Madness.
Clarity.
Calm.
Chaos.
Light!
Darkness!
This word sends me to a frenzy.
I fear I am becoming what they wanted me to.
Hive.
Dastardly creatures.
Deceptive.
Clever.
Malicious.
Set a seed of Darkness within the Light.
I stand away from my fellow Guardians.
Mind clear.
But still full.
Of a single problem.
I wondered.
Could I be Darkness?
Evil?
No. Not possible.
I fight for the Traveler.
...Right?
I questioned out loud.
It seemed like so long.
I had relapsed.
I felt stupid.
But I was still child.
I was allowed a mistake.
No.
Says a voice.
I look back. It's that Hunter.
From back then.
She hasn't grow from size.
But mind.
I can tell by her stance.
Light.
She smiles.
Walks toward me.
Leans on the railing.
How are we so certain.
I say without questioning.
Without trying to defend my crime.
It's Void. She ascertains.
Void is Light within No-Light. When a Sun collapses. And a Void remains.
She steps next to me.
I'm hunched over the rail.
She puts a hand on my chest.
I feel her touch from beneath my coat.
My skin is aching for it.
I was always watching you. She admits.
I know you felt eyes on you. She says.
You're schedule is predictable. She lies.
I never know where I go till I get there.
You're good. She says smiling.
Cause even if Darkness takes us all. If we lose and all is lost. She takes my head and looks into my eyes.
There is still you. Fighting for us. She smiles.
You're Light is too bright for even us. So it must be dimmed.
I relax.
Here's a Hunter. Often times reserved.
Closed off.
Stoic.
Here's her.
Open.
Emotional.
Honest.
For the first time.
I felt safe.
Reassured.
Calm.
She rested her head on mine. I felt her warmth radiate through me.
Light and purity.
But bluntness and passion.
Like me in a way.
She took a risk.
If nothing else I respected her.
I looked her over.
Her face small. I thought rather fitting.
She is slim.
But stout.
Not easily pushed around.
Awoken. I remark.
She blushes in a way.
Almost like she did but you don't know unless you look kind of blush.
Yes. I came to Earth finally. There's freedom here. I know I do good. She says softly.
What's your name? I ask. Actually ask.
I can't remember how long it was after this before I asked another.
F-Farah. She says stuttering.
I smile.
Farah...
That is a name I have not heard yet.
She smiled a little smile.
And you? She was meek.
But in a way, determined.
Again, I respected it.
Dylan.
We smiled and looked out onto the forgotten tundra.
The cold was warm.
As was her hand.
Ah.
To be there again.
