Jayden POV
I stood there in our dining room assessing the hopeless situation I was thrown into. We were under siege by an army of dark spirits, they could come in at any time, and there was a crazy girl in our house.
Zena slowly got up from the ground, my dad had hit her pretty hard. But my parents waited for her to get up, almost like a respectful gesture. Once she was on her feet again, she looked very hatefully at us. "I'm done playing games! Spirits, invado!"
The dark spirits then came crashing through the windows, some even rammed right through the walls. Others knocked down doors and rushed in that way, they clawed at each other just to get at us. I tensed up as the dark spirits surrounded me and my parents.
"Jayden, it's your moment of truth." My father spoke without looking at me. "Can you fight them?"
"Of course." I muttered softly.
I decided to test my own strength, I picked a dark spirit, it seemed extra eager to approach us. I spun 360 degrees and hit it with a spin kick. I hit it square in the jaw, and it bit it's own tongue off. Though it wasn't dead, it just got sent back.
My mom looked towards my dad. "Do it." She instructed.
Similar to what my dad did before, he began to yell again as his hand went to the hilt of his sword. My mom grabbed me and jumped directly up, and for good reason. When my dad slashed, a yellow light erupted from his sword, it extended to the whole dining room in a circular motion.
Every single dark spirit in the room was split in two, and they then dissipated into darkness. Even the walls were slightly cut from his attack. My mom and I landed, we'd have been cut too if not for us being above the range of his attack. Zena wasn't in the room, which meant she'd escaped to somewhere else in the house.
"Jayden, we have to leave the house." My mom said to me as she took my arm and ran.
I ran with her, but I looked back at my dad as we went. He drew his sword, and charged with us. The lobby was flooded with dark spirits, but my mom and dad hacked and struck them down with ease. We then rushed upstairs, my dad stayed downstairs to fend off what was left of them with a blur of sword work I'd seen many times before.
My mom took me to my room and spoke, "Jayden, take only what you need to survive. I can buy you a few minutes to pack."
"Alright, I'll make it quick." I said as I walked into my room and left her as she punched and kicked the dark spirits in the halls.
I looked around my room and thought of what I needed. A weapon, shoes, and a way to contact Ethan.
I went and got a pocket knife from my drawer, I thought that might come in handy. An exorcist needs a holy or demonic weapon to damage a spirit, but a caller like me could do it with anything. I put on socks and shoes as quickly as I could, and I got that purple and black hoodie from my closet.
And finally, I took my phone from my desk, that was all I needed.
I looked out my window. There were dark spirits surrounding our whole house, some even spilled into the streets. So there was a potential for many more dark spirits to enter my house... fun.
I walked over to the door and looked back. Suddenly it occurred to me that I might not be seeing my room again for a while. I then exited the door.
My mom was fighting furiously, her fists and shins were glowing in a white light, and she was able to strike down the dark spirits with one blow each. She was a caller like me, and her powers assisted her.
The hall was almost completely cleared, I was impressed by how strong my mom was. I looked down over the ledge at the lobby, and I saw my dad working furiously to fight off the horde coming through the windows and door.
