Ethan POV
Jayden responded to my Skype call pretty quickly.
"Ethan! Where are you right now, are you alright?" Jayden spoke very loudly, he looked very concerned and tired.
"I'm fine, and I'm at McDonald's. What's up?" I asked him curiously. He was acting weird.
"Alright, are your parents with you?"
"No, my parents aren't with me, I already ran away before you sent that email. Why what's going on?" I could see the distress in his eyes.
"Ok, this is a lot to explain. Are you sure you'll be safe long enough for me to go into detail?" He eyed me up and down and tried to look behind me.
"I think so, why wouldn't I be?" I asked as I looked behind my shoulder.
"My parents are dead. They came home sometime last night, and then we were attacked this morning." I thought he might be joking, "Everything you think you know isn't true, our family are exorcists, they hunt and kill demons and dark spirits. Your dad was one too, but he ran away from that life."
"Come on, this is a prank. You had me there, though." I laughed a bit. But Jayden's face was perfectly straight.
"Ethan, I'm not joking. My parents were killed right in front of me. I'm in a car now, my house is destroyed!" Jayden screamed and hit something in front of him.
"No way." I was finally starting to believe what he was saying.
"I've been able to see ghosts my whole life. But Ethan, the demon that attacked my house said they would go after you next. They said that after my dad was killed, your dad would become weak. And that he would be easy to possess. Has your dad had any health problems in the last few hours?"
"He was hacking pretty bad today." I remembered how he could barely yell at me through his coughs.
"They plan to possess your dad, then use his body to kill you, and your mom. Ethan, I'm not joking."
"Well, what do I do?" I asked intensely.
"As long as it's just your dad... You can fight him. He's still a human body, but be careful. He'll be a lot stronger than usual. There's no way to tell what powers the demon will have, apparently it's name is Archimedes. You should run, rather than fight, I don't know if you could take him on."
"Alright. I'm going to end the call, I hear someone coming."
I ended the Skype call.
I closed my laptop and I looked around the area, and sure enough I saw my dad about twenty feet away from me. He didn't look right. He had a look I'd only ever seen on serial killers.
He started taking steps towards me, his grin grew wider as I entered his vision. What I saw didn't seem to be my dad at all.
"Ethan, I'm sorry for how I acted, can we just talk?" My father questioned me in a hyperactive voice that seemed too loud and much too hurried. Maybe even a little high pitched?
He didn't sound like he was my dad. He looked like he was, but he didn't act like my father. I began to believe what Jayden said as I realized just how delirious he was.
"Stay away from me." I told him as he got closer.
"You come with me right now or I will take you by force!" He yelled much more aggressively, seemingly out of nowhere.
He grabbed me by the collar of my hoodie and lifted me up with one arm. Since when was he that strong?I kicked at his gut with my foot and he didn't flinch, he just dropped me. I quickly backed up as far as I could. I raised my arms in a boxing stance and got ready to fight. Was he really possessed?
