It was a tranquil sight, watching the clouds drift past him.

The sky was cool, the sun was setting, it was a picture perfect gradient from day to night.

It was just right.

He has gone on a long walk into the forest and found a spot he liked, where he then disabled his own gravity and floated upwards. With a slight adjustment, he was able to stay in one spot and watch the scene around him. The bustling of the cars in the distant city, the sound of an eagle further below him, the way the leaves changed colour as the wind blew through them.

He took it all in, a single tear ran down his face as he smiled and closed his eyes, letting himself fall.

It felt like someone hugged him in the last moment, before he felt the ground beneath him.

The grass was soft, a gentle breeze blew across the land, the trees rustled in the wind and distant birds were chirping. The sun was warm on his face, by its position it seemed to be noon or early afternoon. His eyes slowly opened as he sat up and touched his head. No injuries, no sores, no aches.

Somebody took his hand and moved in front of him, blocking the blinding sun.

That someone was his beloved.

The beloved smiled gently, though he held some sadness in his gaze.

The hero noticed, but first, he pulled his beloved into a kiss, not wanting to let go of the familiar feeling of their metal bodies against each other, that he had missed so much.

The parted, but kept each other in their embrace. The beloved spoke:

"You didn't have to do that."

He replied:

"I know, I'm sorry... I just couldn't bare it anymore."

The loved one stayed silent, before nodding and answered:

"I understand. I still love you. How are the others?"

"Most are okay, some are still coping with... stuff. I assume you already know of Thresher?"

"Yeah... Early corrosion. He told me when we met again."

"Did he not stick around?"

"No no, he did, he's just somewhere else right now, probably with Zib."

"Ah, that's nice. I guess the family is slowly coming back together."

"Heh, yeah.. that's at least one good thing."

A pair of blue feet quietly landed beside Nebula, the golden wings of the newcomer tucking together behind their back as they stared down, white tears slowly dripping down their expressionless face.
They picked him up and flew up again.

Ellio entered mission control with his sister and mother.
"Uncle Quad', is there any news about Alexander-"
They collectively froze as they saw Von Nebula's status be changed from "missing" to "deceased".
Quadal turned to them with a solemn gaze, however that would work with his single eye.
"Surge found him. He's with Stormer now."
